So, they went to the trouble of putting in a HDD but didn't bother with a Freeview tuner?... :?

guess not have no idea if u'll be able to record from the freeview onto the hard drive either
i just hoticed they had two tunders but i think thats for pip rather than digital/analogue

yup, this is a euro model......poland i think, dont quote me on that though. i have the uk spec model with freeview and no hard drive. and i love it.

Thats Pixmania for you! I'd never buy anything from them for that reason. … Thats Pixmania for you! I'd never buy anything from them for that reason. Grey imports at a lower spec isnt a wise thing to do!

Crazy thing is, I live in mainland Europe (Netherlands), and Pixmania look like just about the cheapest place to buy anything from.

The lack of freeview also isn't a problem, because we get everything via a cable box. Including the BBC digital channels. Only thing I miss is Sky One, but that's made redundant by the cable modem ;-)

That is without the HD. If you want the non-HD model, LG 42PC1D, then you can get it for £589 delivered from Sound & Vision

apologies, i should have mentioned the uk model has freeview INSTEAD of a hdd

And the model at sound and vision is the 42PC1DV which is not HD ready, but HD compatible. It is a EDTV, it has lower resolution and fewer inputs.

You can always get this 42" lg model from digital direct

digitaldirectuk.com/pro…fi=

it is only £519.01 but £69.99 P&P with freeview and all the connections you would need. The worst thing is that it is HD compatible not HD ready ,as already mentioned .

Must say that I am well pleased with Pixmania, its simple really you look at their tv specs and where they are from, if you dont like them then buy elsewhere.

I bought an LG 37" lcd, I knew it was a French model (Being shipped from France) No freeview (Dont need it). Just over £600 at the time, arrived in 2 days by DHL, opened box fitted a £2 kettle type power lead and thats it bargain. I couldnt care where it came from as long as its gonna work, its good value, dont have to wait months on it coming, and with LG's the picture is excellent

So 42" LG HD plasma at that price, is a voted Hot, thanks very much

i think its a case of, if it is purchased within the uk then it must have a 3 pin plug fitted, but, because these are imported from the EU, then that probably doesn't apply.

guv

Doesn't seem that clever compared to the offers on the Panny

And these offers are what exactly?

Sounds reasonable. Does it say anywhere on their site they are supplying … Sounds reasonable. Does it say anywhere on their site they are supplying you with goods not meant for the UK market? Same thing happened a short while ago when someone got bounced on the Canon promotion because the gear supplied by Pixmania was a grey import. If that is fine with you, great.(a) Its already been pointed out it can be sourced cheaper elsewhere(b) It is actually illegal to supply electrical goods in the UK with incorrect electrical connectors.(c) WFT would you be waiting for it to be coming?I hadn't voted prior to this - but have now. Freezer department.

If something is good value, then who cares where its from. Yes if it wont work in the UK thats a different story, but they do, not all their tv's are Euro models. As far as I know the tv's (Euro models) come with adapters, I choose not to fit mine, I fitted a £2 lead as I mentioned.

But anyway there is no point me tryin to convince you, as I couldnt really care.

I showed this TV to a friend and he has ordered one, hes bought tv's of pixmania before withough problems, but anywayyyy.

Its all about value, this is value.

Anyway arnt they all imports ? All made in china or wherever

Thanks but didn't realise it was plasma i am looking for lcd.:)

i would think anything purchased within the EU would not be considered a 'grey' import. And as for only having an analogue tuner, a cheap freeview box will fix that problem, heck they probably already have one.

Original Poster

surely those with sky, free view will be able to record onto the hard drive wont they?

isnt pixmanina part of the dsg group there for a uk company but based abroad?
