Gets some great reviews amazon.com/LG-…ont be put of with it been 720p as there are plenty of 1080p screens not as good as this one There is a lot more to picture quality than how many pixels on screen

The best 42" screen made was a Pioneer, and that was 720p. As Pioneer insisted that 1080p only had advantages on screens 50" and over. Google this screen, it gets great reviews.

waiting for peggy bedford to **** it off for not being an LED

So any TV's that are not LCD gets you voting cold does it ... I am pretty sure that this Plasma would knock ten bells out of that LCD.:whistling:

I do love the Pioneer's - my mum has a 43 inch 1080i one.

However, it buzzes really loudly - my sharp lcd doesn't so that is why I prefer LCD's to Plasma's.

Not at all - however this is not 1080p hence my cold vote when for a little more, you can get full HD.

Whether the difference is noticable is a different debate however I know what I would choose.

The TV in the link is £679 at Argos - so getting that for just over £400 is more of a bargain imo.

Whats the point in buying a new high def TV that is superb with SD? I personally want the best HD picture possible, even if my SD picture suffers slightly for now (although I dont notice it at all on mine!).

Soon SD broadcasts will be taken over by HD and then the 'great SD' picture will be useless. That is unless your one of the people that posted herelast week who changes their TV every 3 years?!?

43" Pioneers are quite old now, I have one in the attic but my 50" Panasonic Plasma and 32" Sharp LCD obliterate it. My Panasonic Plasma is great (I know the latest Pioneer Plasmas are better but it was double the price, but if you want the best be quick Pioneer stopped making screen's over a year ago you may find one). As for your Sharp, it's good but no where near the best. I have one and I bought my mum one, so as I said, good but there are better a lot better. The picture quality of this LG for a budget screen is amazing.

This Screen is HD just not Full HD, and no one broadcasts in Full HD (1080P) or are likely too (bandwith limitations.) So you're going to have to scale to 1080p (not good). When these Bluray are shown on a 42" screen you're not going to see any difference. This LG is native at HD quailty so your point is what............?

you won't see broadcast 1080p this side of 2015 I'm afraid.

SkyHD is 1080i and very few console games are native 1080p.

Even with SkyHD a PS3, an Xbox360 and Bluray at least 75% of the viewing in my household is still Standard definition. This is why i choose for now to stick with a very good quality 720p panel. In addition my usual seating distance is just under 5 mtr from the TV...far enough away that with my 42" Plasma the difference between 720p/1080p is negligible unless your name is Clark Kent

why buy a new TV that will make the majority of the stuff you watch look worse......I've had my 720p Plasma for 2yrs now and as long as it doesn't go TU then I'll imagine it will be another 5yrs before i see the need to change to a 1080p panel.
