The 42pj550 is only £379 at currys! You have to trade any old tv in to get it, but still a better deal in my opinion as most people could put their hands on an old/defunct/worthless tv to trade in!

only HD 'ready' - why they still selling these tvs?

There are plenty of people out there who do not play game consoles and who will never buy a BluRay player so for them it is worth saving £50+ and only getting a HD ready TV

I've just brought the LG 42PJ550 Plasma which is the next TV up from this one posted via the Currys deal and got it for £349 plus delivery, and can do the DivX HD playback and MKV files via the USB. However I would like to support the above comment, I've actually got a blu-ray player with this, however I'm quite happy to run it at 720P, to be honest from what I have seen between 720P and full 1080P there is little in it, and a number of factors will come into play when running one of these HD Ready TV's. I'm personally quite happy with what I've brought, it's a bargain price and will last me for several years to come till we next need to upgrade.

HD ready TVs give a better image quality when viewing Sky SD broadcasts.......................

I too got the PJ550 from Currys... less money (with a trade in) for the better model that will play divx / mkv from USB...

So unfortunately this is cold from me.

Since I proclaimed it........

I did a lot of research before buying a TV and based on the views of two dedicated HI-FI shops (Not Currys or Dixons) and a few million posts on AV forums, the conclusion was that as a whole the Sky SD broadcasts were better on an HD ready Plasma.

Many people I know have 1080P LCDs and the picture quality from SD broadcasts is definatley not as good (not just my opinion).
