What's this tv like

Same price at amazon if you want to add that to the listing OP.

Good TV, Im thinking of buying it for my mum. I have a panasonic and not due for a new tv for a while, my mum has a small toshiba so Im going to treat her to this in the next month.

Nice find.

I have had this tv for a year now. Fantastic and great price, heat added.

This same tv was posted few days ago at apollo direct for cheaper with quidco and code - do a search on hukd for the merchant and you should find it

Crampton & Moore are great, I have always had a good service from them. Although the delivery company they use have obnoxious employees.

Please be careful with this deal as I ordered one last night, received an email stating that they have over sold this deal, asked if I was willing to wait for LG to send more, which they have no date for or a full refund! Now it's been re-advertised as 'in stock'.

I got this tv from richer sounds a short time back for £499 and its the best tv I have ever bought! Was a Sony only guy until I got this.

Hot from me thanks may upgrade my current LG to this beast

If i hadnt of bought my sony tv i would of bought this 100%

I bought the 47" version of this tv and it is brilliant, I have a Virgin Media TIVO hooked and the HD picture is great . I also have a 3D blu ray connected 3D is surprisingly good, AVATAR is fantastic. The sound is as usual pretty poor but I play it through a surround sound system , so that is like chalk and cheese. The SMART apps are good especially NETFLIX , NOW TV and the new AMAZON

Hot price, heat added. I recently got a panny 42 for £269 at Asdas otherwise I would have been all over this!

I have one of these & 3 months later it still looks as good as the first time transition from a 10yr old 32". Only flaw is no VGA, thought that would have lasted longer on TV production.

Have this tv. No complaints at all. Although the 3D is barely used with young children in the house. Netflix on smart function is especially handy. And you may want to adjust the audio as sometimes the background noise can over shadow the vocal audio. Great picture and a great tv for the money. I recommend.

What's this tv like for gaming? I'm undecided between this or the 42LA690V for a little more. I've heard it can suffer from lag but some say putting the tv into Game mode cures it.

I have the 660V and it did suffer from lag at first, however switching to game mode eliminated all lag and it runs sweet now, great TV fro gaming!!

Very tempted on this one, have been holding out for the Sony KDL42W705B to drop below £400 but it looks to be quite a wait.

Not likely to get much use from 3D at all, and the lag rate on the Sony is still more tempting, even though it is a matter of milliseconds!

Great TV for the money here, voted hot.

Is this one better or worser than the LG42LA690V?

I was looking at the 42LA690V but waiting for it to come down in price a little bit.

Richer Sounds do this TV, you could try a price match and get a 5 year guarantee and some free Sky goodies..

they won't price match with this because richer sounds offer the free 5 year guarantee and Crompton and more don't

Great tv. 3d is very good.

Same (bar 3D) / Similar ? TV from John Lewis for those who don't want 3D

johnlewis.com/lg-…000

5yr warranty

Richer Sounds might price match with their warranty to get the sale, worth a try (and let us know!)

good tv great picture once you get it setup properly but the out of the box picture is garbage!

i can also use my RF wireless air mouse/keyboard with it by plugging the usb dongle in so basically works like the magic remote but half the price and with keyboard

btw got john lewis to price match richer sounds when i bought mine @ 459 i think it was

Whilst I cannot comment on the quality of the TV, I can comment on the retailer.

I bought a Samsung TV from this retailer in late 2011 and it went faulty just after the warranty expired. I took up the issue with C & M citing the Sale of Goods Act.

They ignored all my letters and only when I threatened legal action did they respond but only by stating that it was nothing to do with them! They were pathetic.

In the end Samsung sorted it out but only after I pushed them to deal with it at no cost to myself

Might give Richer Sounds a holler in the morning.

i have already tried not a lot of branches with stock and they wouldn't match it as they don't offer the free 5 year cover and richer sounds do

Would they match it without offering 5 year warranty? Delivery to NI on Crampton & Moore is £50, which is ridiculous.

I bought the 690 on Sunday and i'm very pleased with it.

The 690 is a better model. Use the LG compare tool on their site. There's a tick box to highlight the differences.

lg.com/uk/tvs

It looks like the differences are;

* Cinema screen (2.2cm smaller width)
* double the motion clarity
* Dual play
* Contrast optimiser
* Magic eye (with voice recognition) and included with the 690v
* Slightly better sound

I mainly bought the 690 for the cinema screen. It looks awesome and I will be starring at it for the next 5 years..

Yeah I'd go for the 690 too. It's just a little over budget at the moment. Hopefully will go down soon to 425-450 then I'd grab it:)

the 640 is dual play, you just don't get the glasses which cost circa £5 which I paid off ebay, the motion clarity, you turn down as it looks weird... depends what your used to I guess
The sound doesn't matter as normally you use a sound bar... well we do, and no telly sounds as good as our sound bar does.
The remote is down to preference, it has its limitations, I prefer the normal remote. you download the app to your phone for motion control effectively.
The contrast is the same, and the narrower bezel is clever but, makes it technically less strong so be careful when moving it around as it can/will flex. hold it as illustrated.
The screen is the same the major difference is the software/ chipset that drives it

What's better passive or active 3d ?

Nothing wrong with Crampton and Moore - I'd highly recommend them.
