Brilliant price. Was there many of them or was it a clearance price reduction.

got last one in local today and agree a bargain

Isn't this LED not LCD?

Another Vestel special, similar to the cheap Panasonic, review speak for itself - s21.com/lg-…htm

Strangly it even looks like the panny and has the same number of HDMI ports etc, fed up with the likes of panny and now lg outsourcing their bottom end range to 3rd parties, in this Vestel I bet.

AFAIK LG are not one of the manufacturers guilty of slapping their name on a Vestel set. The design of this TV is similar to many of the LG 2014 models including the 4k TV's such as the 42UB820V

LG manufacture their own panels. This IPS panel would make a great pc screen

The panel is IPS LCD which is backlit with LED's. All so called LED televisions unless they are OLED use LCD panels.

I'll take your bet as you're wrong. The idea of claiming a BMW is made by ford as the y both make cars with 4 wheels is equally as silly.

At 250 notes it's probably worth a punt if you can track one down.

I've had it a few months now from the Tesco TV + XB1 deal that was on here a few months ago, at £250 you can't go wrong.

Very different reviews at amazon 4.4/5

You're wrong, nothing to do with vestel. They are from Poland

Sorry yes was a mistype. LED not LCD. It's now up on the wall and the picture is superb and it's really very sleek design. Definitely no grumbles here for £249. My local Sainsburys (ELY, CAMBS) had 5-6 left on the shelf

Did you wrote that review?
Amazon reviews compare this to Samsung F5000 series and they are all positive.

I'm not sure about this, I think it looks great!?

Design & looks: LG has made some gorgeous televisions in recent years, but this isn't one of them. The LB550V is a very ordinary-looking television. Although the bezel surrounding the screen is reasonably slim, the plastic stand looks cheap and lets down the overall appearance of the TV. It's a low-cost TV, but it's a pity that it has to look cheap too.

We have it wall mounted so can't comment on the overall look with the legs. It's very sleek when on the wall

And therein lies the conundrum - bad v.s good reviews. Personally, since the Amazon reviews are clearly buyers reviews (some can be sales pitches) I am inclined towards the positive.

can't believe anyone would want a 42" monitor!

that's inch not foot, not sure why hukd auto corrects the symbol

My mother in law has this set. I set it up for her. Pic quality for general SkyHD viewing is good. Can't comment on gaming as I haven't taken my PS4 round (!). For a general set or maybe a 2nd set for a family room or something the price is good

In laws bought this from local store in Ayrshire. Tested gaming with Xbox 360 Fifa and Gta and the picture quality is fantastic.

So much thinking of buying one too.

It's not sure to assume anything these days. I work work for Ford's in their engine assembly plant, and we actually assemble volvos 3.0 T6 engines and Jaguar's V6 and V8 engines. So an electronics company outsourcing their low ends products doesn't seem that strange to me.

Who's silly and wrong now? this set is clearly low end ...

It's common knowledge in the industry that the likes of Vestel manufacture sets for the likes of Toshiba, Panasonic and LG . UMC are also in on the act. Vestel is the largest original design manufacturer (ODM) for displays in Europe. This means that other companies frequently huge, worldwide brands–design products, then pay ODMs to build them for local markets. But here is the kicker, the likes of Panny, LG also see this as a cost saving exercise and get Vestel to produce sets with Vestel own design, but with the brand's badge and bezel styling, which can be seen here:

Clearly, you are very mature. Nobody has claimed that this TV isn't an entry level model. Would you care to provide some evidence that this television is manufactured by Vestel, other than having a passing resemblance (it doesn't) and the same number of HDMI ports to a Panasonic TV?

I got the 39" version a while ago. Very good TV. The only bad thing is that the screen is a bit more reflective than you would expect.

anyone seeing these at their local sainsburys?

There's one in my local - tempted to get it - what do you say peeps? Should I just go for it? Anything better at same price??

I don't think there is anything with a 42" or bigger screen that isn't a brand slap for the same price.

Great price for a 42" tv, I've a 32" and a 42" LG TV, both low end models and they've been superb, for the money the picture is great. Too many kids on this site squabbling, it really is a tiresome experience at time these days.
Heat added, thanks for posting, hopefully those after a good price tv will manage to get one.
