I have looked everywhere this week for the best price and have seen every deal come through here - with Freeview HD it's a steal! Like I said the lower model of this with normal freeview and only 2 HDMI slots is 300oC.

Seems a bargain to me, thanks for posting shame i got the older inferior model for £375 have some heat!

Original Poster

Cheers dude - thanks for the stats, I didn't stick them on as I thought I would leave people to just check it out on the Curry's site... Plus i'm too lazy!

Sorry price needs to be amended to £419

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/lg-42ld490-42-full-hd-lcd-tv-black-07706811-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-1

Product code: 618116
Web exclusive price
£419.00

In-store price £479.00

Even though price now £419 (free P&P) its still far better than the following:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lg-42ld450-42-full-hd-lcd-tv-freevi/802779/#post9868549

Priced at £399. So for £19 extra you get 1 extra hdmi slot, freeview hd (not std), internet facilities

Could not find reviews on the tv though but must be able to view mkv, avi movies like the other model? If so its still a steal, imnufc2k change the price before someone expires it as still a good deal!

It uses the Currys codes which a on deals all over HUKD - i.e. the code "25POUND" which I used myself and the set is £394...

You'll always get the cold voters, they've got nothing better to do than vote stupidly for a good deal! I did add some heat to the deal as i feel its a much better deal than the other current one for £399 but compared with the original one for £375 with amazon (a diff of £44) its not as hot!

No worries man, I often miss things in the descriptions when scanning through - so now you see it's an even better deal than you thought!

the t.v deals just keep on coming .... Voted hot but personally I'm holding out for an LCD with freesat instead.

I know google is my friend but what extra channels does the FreeSat come with?

+quidco maybe another £12 ish

Balls - wish i'd thought of that before ordering! I always forget Quidco!

This looks good, but beware a lot of places don't get Freeview HD. I can't get it where I am in Wales and my mother in law can't get it in Northern Ireland until 2012.
You can check here freeview.co.uk/HD
Still looks like a good price to me but worth checking!

Hot!

I have the 47 inch version of this TV, it runs the same firmware.
There was a software update the other week and now you can watch iPlayer directly on it (and also access Facebook and Twitter), when you connect it to the internet (via the built in ethernet port). It can also browse your network for media files and play them back, including DivX HD files. I've managed to get mine to stream 1080p content across the network (I use HomePlugs as my computer is in another room). You can also play video files back via USB too. Seems to play everything I throw at it - fantastic value.

50 or 100Hz?

web enabled tvs are becoming big, samsung and sony have direct tv streaming -does LG have the same or is this just a few widgets? And if it comes out in future for LG will these sets get updated software do you think?

Plus what's the response time off the screen? It's important for gaming. I noted the LG 42LD450 42" was 4ms.

HOOOOOOT

Ordered, thankyou!

50 or 100Hz?

Was wondering the same.

HOT! Compared to what tvs were going for this time last year this set is amazing value for money, gotta love the new (and in my opinion WAY over hyped) 3D tvs pushing the price of these types of sets down!

Have some heat OP, good find.

good price for this me thinks i may go for this

thanks

That's insane, I need one of these! Gah.. not til after Christmas

Silly price for a TV of this size with Full HD & Freeview HD oO

It`s even got picture in picture!

Two minus points for me only 1 scart and no DVI!

Sill voted hot tho`, I`ll buy one next month when they drop below £250 ( I wish!)

ridiculous features for the price.
this time last year when i bought a 42" toshiba for £420, you were lucky to get 1080p. to have internet connectivity, freeview hd and picture in picture for less than £400? f right off

hot

Fair point for some people - personally I don't need scart and I don't need DVI as I have a DVI to HDMI cable.

I live in sunny Northern Ireland and can get freeview HD no problems through my Sky Dish without the need for a sky box, i just use the freesat HD box.

That's different mate - what this guy means is they haven't turned on the Freeview HD signal for some areas. FreeView HD and FreeSat HD are 2 different things... You don't need a satellite dish for Freeview

More importantly what are the menu systems like to use on these tvs? Are they slow, can you browse tv listings while still watching one channel etc

I don't think 100hrz matters for gaming really, but the refresh response under 5ms.
Games use blur after all.

Having had 50hz LCD and 600hz (yeah right!) plasma I know the selling point they try to push is bull. I've never been able to see a difference between 50 and 100hz!

anyone know how much extra warranty will be for this? i cant see any options on the site

Anyone worked out how to enter the promotional code when collecting from store?
