£478 on Amazon, so I thought this seemed a decent deal with the 5 year guarantee at John Lewis.
Not actually after a TV, was just having a look and this seemed decent for the money.

Alot cheaper at richer sounds, just £439.94 with 5 year guarantee

This can still be bought for £399.89 from Amazon, (12 month Guanantee)

The LD490 suffers from the panel 'lottery'. You will get either an A-MVA or S-IPS panel, but you won't know which until you've bought it. There's no processor lottery... you will get an MStar.

The MStar is also used in the Samsung C530, as is the superior Trident processor. For even better picture quality... nothing better this side of a Samsung LE40C650 or Panasonic TXP42G20... consider the Samsung LE40C580.

£400 delivered from Amazon. Includes HD Freeview. Review here hdtvtest.co.uk/new…htm . 'Highly Recommended'.

Superb blend of picture quality & outstanding build quality. Glass stand, glass-effect bezel, metal rear casing, transparent bezel edging, red pinstripe at the base of the bezel. It oozes quality.

Unlike so many TVs, there's no panel or processor lottery with the LE40C580. It has the Valencia processor (superior picture quality than MStar or Trident equipped TVs) & S-PVA panel... no subscribers to the C580 thread on Avforums have reported getting anything but the S-PVA panel so far this year.

After having a good read and a good cry after my 2 year old pulled my Sony KDL 40W2000 off its stand recently, I've took the advice offered and purchased the Samsung C580 from Best buy (about 370 after quidco). Will report back when it's delivered (free) tomorrow, but hope it's at least as good as the Sony was. Better wall mount it to be on the safe side!
