Sounds like we are both after a similar spec tv but it's not easy is it :?

Anybody know of a decent 42" 1080p 100hz lcd tv that's good at handling standard def content and can be used at full 1080p res with a PC for under £1k?

Just when I think I've found a decent one there's always something that lets it down :?

Yeah, budget is slightly lower than your own but stands etc aint cheap.

Life's tough!

:w00t:

What about Panasonic 42PX80B?

Is this LG better or worse than the Panasonic 42PX80B?

I'm about to order one or the other.

but that panasonic is plasma

but a good plasma is better than lcd.
lcd better fr gaming thats all,but not by much.
fo SD,HD,FILMS plasma is way way better

the Panny is a good tv but it's not full HD.... max res of 1024x768

@ludichris, how about the ]Toshiba 42Z3030D? It was on this site at around £850, if that's within your budget.

It has everything we need and looks great. The only thing I'm not sure about is the conflicting reports on how it handles SD :?

whenver i have watched anything on a plasma panel, its always like the lip sync is out...also, football is worse than ever on the panels I have seen in Plasma.

i found football picture worse on plasma too, thought it was just me ! tempted to get plasma but risky as i do a lot of gaming and screen burn is still around on plasma models

Screen burn is down to negligence, not everyday use.

next you will be telling me the poor football picture is down to the footballers :w00t:

i game for several hours a day and not had any burn on either of my plasmas. as the other poster said its down to negligence. The fact you thought football blurred was most likely due to the size of the tv and viewing distance as plasma has a better refresh rate abd dynamic resolution than any lcd will ever have.

oh. and the panel in that lg is very poor in terms of contrast, colour accuracy and dynamic resolution.

Remember a plasma uses up a lot more power than an LCD thus it's more expensive to run.

Big consideration as electricity prices expected to rise by 15% in next few weeks and by at least same amount later in summer ( n.ireland) source: bbc news, for no hassle gaming and cheaper bills gotta be an LCD i guess.:-D

Slightly I'm afraid.

May have to just save some more penny's.
