Good Price but I personally think the £516 deal for a panasonic 42" is better

not for an LCD it's not... You'd normally get 50,000 or 60,000 so this actually has good spec but would still get the Panny..... A plasma obviously has much higher contrast ratio but this is LCD

would rather pay a bit more and get a Sony W series or at least a V series

80,000:1 is good for an lcd

i bought this tv today, altho from Currys... same price. Also bought the 32" version for bedroom. That was £350.
Very happy with both. Very easy plug n play, picture excellent. Simple to use & smart pic. Chuffed

Contrast stats are meaningless for LCDs, because they always quote dynamic contrast rather than the real figures (because they're usually around 1500:1 or so, which doesn't look too good for marketing purposes).

I have the 32 inch version. Check the forums for how to enable the Divx/mkv playback via USB - plug in your 1 TB USB drive or USB stick and away you go. Can Sony do that for the same price?

I would never buy anything from PC World again, they are all over you when you buy but if something goes wrong they simply don't want to know.

Don't forget about the hack on these, if you downgrade the firmware, you can enable DivX Playback, and full, 1080p HD (supports many formats including .mov, mkv, avi) through the USB port on the back (normally only for firmware upgrades). This means that you can basically plug a harddrive into the back, and watch all of your content off it without needing another device. Once you downgrade and enable the hack, (takes five mins) you can safely upgrade to the latest firmware and keep it all enabled.
