Does anyone have this and use the Netflix app? Specifically, are you able to make it point to the US servers like you can on the PS3?

Does anyone know how many Hz this tv is

On LCD TVs it makes little difference, I would be surprised if anyone could tell the difference between 200Hz and 400Hz. It's just used as a gimmick to help sell the TV.

What about 50Hz vs 400Hz? Either way, the question is whether you want to watch the source material as intended, or let your TV guess what extra frames might have looked like if they were present (in the case of 400Hz and UK TV, it could potentially add 7 extra frames between each 2 of the source material). I'll have the former please.

John Lewis don't do this model, so they won't price match

Great set, bought the same model earlier this year for far more than this!

Richer Sounds + 5yr warranty free?

Although £70 dearer I would probably go for this + free 5 year warranty from RS LG42LA620V

I have this tv. It's easy to use and can be controlled via my mobile phone via broadband, which makes life simple without the need for a magic remote, just use phone keyboard for typing (esp when kid shave hid the remote)! Kids love the 3D upscaling for their Disney films. TV is ultra thin and I find the picture is great and has sound to match esp for watching sports. Bought as an upgrade last year when old one broke, only paid £140 the insurance company stumped the rest. Happy days

I'm quite interested in the LG passive 3D, and this seems really neat. Is it actually a good price? How good, comparitively? A lot of places seem to be within about 50 quid of this. 50 quid's a nice saving but nothing to go nuts over...

Nope got it from curry's for £449 and paid £129 for the 5 year warranty, there warranty is better than richer sounds though.

On another note, this tv and lm620t is better than the new one (620v) it looks nicer, has 4 hdmi ports instead of 3 and the newer one also doesn't have as good refresh rate.

Hot, just reserved this at Ilford branch. Paid deposit over the phone. Cant wait to get a hold of this baby.

Initially went to Curry's to see if they would price match but was advised the LG "LM TV model series" has been discontinued there.

They have 3 more left in stock at RGB Ilford so be quick if your after one.

I must admit its something I always switch off as its an effect that I'm not keen on, I definitely wouldn't let it affect my distinction about whether to buy the TV.

just bought one! , very happy thanks op

I thought the 640 has build in wifi?

I just ordered the LG 47LM670T from Sonic Direct for £720 delivered, which is the cheapest I've seen.

The 640 has a narrower bezel and built in wifi. I bought one from RGB for £550 a few months back. It's great (once you turn off some of the gimmicky motion enhancement stuff). The range has been replaced so the remaining stock should be reduced everywhere now.

You clearly don't own one then. I have the 615T which no doubt has the same screen as this. The 3D imo is a gimmick but the picture quality is fantastic. No noticible issues with resolution on these passive sets and more comfortable to watch than the Samsungs.

When you start getting to bigger sets 50"+ then active becomes more relevant but at this size I'd highly recommmend passive for cheap, light, weight glasses and flicker free being easier on the eye.

One downside to my set is the sound quality, occassional annoying reverberations and seen similar reviews on the 620T. Not sure if this set is the same design but worth checking first. Regardless was very pleased with my purchase.

What a load of cobblers.

I looked for ages for a tv and decided on the lm640t, personally have the 55" and it's ace.

The features are brilliant and the bezel on this is nicer than the 620 but not quite as nice as the 670. The 670 is quite alot more for nicer bezel and better video processor however if the 640 is setup correctly it looks ace.
I paid 999 for the 55 inch so this seems like a good price.
Great tv which you won't regret buying.

In what way is Curry's warranty better than Richer Sounds mate?

In what way is Curry's warranty better than Richer Sounds mate?

What richer sounds don't tell you is that after you send your product in for repair more than twice you have to start paying for the repair. Also they deduct 10% off the value of the product every year so if you claim money back you won't get it all back. Currys has no limit on the amount of times it can be sent in for repair and on the fourth time they will replace it for a brand new one, if they do not sell that model anymore than it will be replaced with the current equivalent of that model.

Cheers Benji, thanks for the info.

I do always wonder when people quote about the Richer Sounds/JLP free guarantees. There's no such thing as a free lunch, they all have their pitfalls.

Also Slick Rick the Curry's warranty will cover you for accidental damage to save you claiming on your home insurance.

This is a good deal for a great TV, just wish it was the 47".

Indeed I would have preferred this tv with no warranty as brand new I wouldn't mind taking risk for five years. This is much better than the £580 I paid for the lm620t ex-display with 5 years warranty I got from currys. I wish I was more patient now

The LG models are pretty much identical apart from one specification that is stated on the manufacture’s website that the LM640T has a Cinema Screen Design. But apart from this, they’re the same. These televisions are both Smart and 3D.

I copied this from a website if it helps.

Update... I have searched further and the only difference is the 640 has a narrower bezel.

That is an excellent price, and this was a set I'd been disappointed to miss at 800, so I ordered it promptly.

Got a call back telling me that it's not in stock. It's still for sale on the website though.

Looks like they could be just trying to reel customers in with it, since they tried to palm me off with a Toshiba instead.
