LG 42LN578V Smart 42" LED TV (Includes magic remote) £399 @ Currys/PC World

Original deal from 2 months ago is expired (presumably when it went back up in price).

It's hard enough to get the LG 42LN575V (without the Magic Motion Remote) for under £400, so i thought this was a bargain.

just reserved mine to collect tomorrow.

just put a list of the apps I've got on mine for you!

Best tv I've ever had well worth the money!

I bought the version of this without the magic remote. One of the USB sockets broke the first time I used. It's not covered by the warranty according to John Lewis.

is it same as the model from john lewis but a different colour?

I quickly compared both TVs on LG's own website and the only difference i could spot between the 42LN575V & 42LN578V is the latter (the TV i've put on the site) comes with the 'Magic Motion Remote'.

both are Black... As far as i can see, the 3D TVs are Silver (unless it's the "42LA" range).

So it doesn't have ITV Player, Channel 5 player or 4OD. I will have to stick with samsung then.

I bought this TV for my 'man cave' in January from Argos for £299.99, and must say i'm well impressed with it.

Have you used it for gaming?

When you use itv player / 4od, do you have to watch adverts ?

I have a smart samsung tv - is it not possible to watch Netflix on it? Thanks

Demand 5 is Channel 5 catch up and it also has 4OD.Only one missing at the moment is ITV player

I got this tv for £360 and its brilliant for the money. The smart tv functionality is great I use the iplayer and amazon video app all the time it works really well.

It's also good for gaming those that goon about refresh rates talk rubbish I was playing titanfall on it today and it looks and plays amazing.

good deal - not ground breaking spec but very adequate for NORMAL viewing

Does anyone know what the sound quality is like

The 32" LG (in your deal) yes i have, and the PS4 looks awesome.. Killzone & Battlefield 4 especially... I'm guessing Infamous:SS and MGS:GZ will look immense on it next week

This 42" LG (that i'm collecting tomorrow) will be for downstairs. It replaces a (fairly mediocre) 50" Samsung Plasma (HD Ready/720p) TV.

How does this tv compare to the LG 42LA620V 42-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD Cinema 3D Smart LED TV with Freeview HD/Built-In Wi-Fi

I know the LA620V is £100 more but is it worth it? You can get another version on the LA for £20 more but doesnt have 3D.

Netflix is also available on Samsung...

Freeview Connect, I believe is out soon...Interesting to see if there will be a sort of firmware update for it...(especially for the likes of Sony, Panasonic & LG)...

My Dad bought this tv without the magic remote in January. It is a fantastic tv and you will not be disappointed. An absolute must is the magic remote which he bought as an extra. Fantastic gadget which makes scrolling far easier than using the remote. It is not just a gimmick.

One thing I noticed back in January in Currys was that the magic remote was actually listed in their advert in the showroom. I noticed yesterday it was not so it may be best just to check in store that the LN578 does include the magic remote.

I bought one of these for over £400 plus £30 for the Magic Remote. Great tv for the money. Didn't realise how handy it is to have a wireless internet connection on the tv. Highly recommended
Being able to watch Netflix straight from the tv is brilliant. The only way to watch a series like Breaking Bad or House of Cards IMHO

Sorry for the 'noob' question, but can you watch things like Breaking Bad in 1080p on Netflix?

And can you also play TV programmes/films in 1080p on the TV itself (via Netflix too)?

Lastly when doing the above, is the picture smooth, clear and stutter-free?

Thanks

im looking for a 37" inch version of this if possible anyone know any good deals?

Just get the 42''. It's the similar size as a 37"LCD from a few years ago. My dad swapped his 37" Samsung LCD for this which has a wide frame. The 42" LG is a smaller in height and just a little wider. Personally I think he should have got the 47" as he wanted a bigger tv and didn't really get one. Screen is bigger obviously but not the tv itself due to current models having a very slim frame.

collected mine today, really pleased with it. Thanks op

I've never heard of anyone wanting a TV with a bigger frame.

Wonderful! Great TV - discounted just in time to buy for my Sons Birthday.

£5.35 TCB (pending)

Finally the Xbox can go up and free up the main TV a little.

I think you missed the point. The 42" LG my Dad bought was actually quite a bit smaller overall in height that his previous Samsung 37" and only marginally wider (10mm or so). So his new tv sits lower than his old one although his viewing screen is larger. I did the same years ago when I replaced my old 28" crt with a 32" flat lcd. It looked too small and was quickly changed with a 42" and then a 47". My 47" LG also has a large frame around the screen which means when it comes to be changed it will be swapped for a 50" which will take up about the same area as my 42".

I would suggest anyone who is changing from a 37 to a 42 to check the overall size of current and prospective tv to see the difference.

good point. We all want screen dimensions to equal TV dimensions but I went down to my local Currys to check out this TV (only had a display one rather than stock to buy) and my first impression was that it was rather small despite having the same screen size as the 42" LCD from 2007 that it would replace.
I now think a 47" Asda Direct are offering for the same price (albiet not smart and no magic remote) might be the right size for my living room:

hotukdeals.com/dea…927

I ordered the 39 inch version of this from amazon for £380 and didn't come with a magic remote.

Chatted online to someone and they will send me one free when back in stock on 16th. Awesome customer service by amazon

Would anyone recommend a wall mount for this TV? It will be going on tiles. Cheers
