I'm not sure why it says 'No warranty included', as this comes with the standard 12 months manufacturers warranty.

Apologies I meant additional warranties like the John Lewis 5 year warranty. I have updated the description.

What's a magic remote? Does it disappear under the sofa! (_;)

No it knows when your wife wants to put Strictly Coming Dancing, the X Factor or the shopping channel on and it disappears. One of the best features of this TV I wouldn't be without it.

Looks very good! Tempted. Will sleep on it.

I believe the Magic remote makes the Smart features a lot easier to use. The 578V is a Currys special bundle I think, haven't seen it anywhere else.

This TV was £429 earlier in the week.

John Lewis are doing the 575V model without the Magic remote but with the 5 year warranty for £429, been that price for a few weeks. Unfortunately I doubt they would price match the 578V even though you are getting less with the 575V. :-(

Exclusive model numbers is a ploy so they don't have to price match, lot of the big retailers do it. One letter ror number different and they can sorry we don't price match that model!

Why don't we ever get discounts on SONY tv's

A good point. And from what I hear John Lewis give a wide range of excuses when they don't want to price match. Richer Sounds cleverly use their warranties as a way of avoiding price matching.

Merry Christmas hotukdeals.com/dea…238

I've had this TV for about 4 months and I find it great, magic remote is nice to have - makes some games possible/easier. Links no probs to mobiles and tablets, easy to set up to our network. Sound is - as with most flat pannels - just about ok. Would I buy again - yes.

I have this screen I got it for £359 on a deal on here a few weeks ago without the smart remote - which you don't need as the free android phone smart app works as well or better for touch control of the browser.

It's a great screen for the money the picture quality is excellent and sound is ok for a flat panel. Hardly
Any bezel its a nice looking set.

It's not the cheapest it's been but i Voted hot as its a great screen screen for the money and you get the smart remote which you can always sell if you have a smartphone.

Thanks for the info, difficult finding any reviews online for this TV. What are the viewing angles like and is it a gloss screen - much reflection/glare when switched off and on?
Edited by: "Pattersons21" 25th Dec 2013

The viewing angles are good. The screen seems matt to me it's not that reflective but Not in direct light really.

cant find a single review for this anywhere

It's a pretty new screen must be. We have a 3 year old 32" lg led smart tv and a high end 42" led lg with glass screen etc that is a couple of years old. This is miles better than either screen. I had a 50" panny plasma a cople of years ago its better than that as well.

The smart tv features are great it's dual core so it's fast in the menus and browser the phone app is great as well.

I watched a couple of hd movies using the media player dnla from my nas tonight the picture is amazing on it IMO.

I am over the moon for £360.

Great to read that's exactly what I would want to use it for - DLNA. Does it handle most files you've thrown at it, MKVs, Xvid, MP4 etc..?

£360 great deal where was that? I might wait to see if it drops down to that price again.

It's currently £369.95 from Richer sounds (instore only) without the magic remote so probably slightly worse deal if you want the magic remote. But Amazon have a deal on to get £15 off the magic remote when you buy this TV for £379.00 making the deal a whopping 5p cheaper at £398.95. And yes I am being sarcastic with that whopping comment

Think I'll take a trip to Currys on boxing day and have a look at the quality of the screen :-)

Just what grandad has been looking for!perfect!:)

My dad has this TV. He is pleased. Can connect logitec wireless keyboard/ mouse to make surfing/ using Smart features easy.

what is the refreah rate of this screen? how does it compare to samsung series 6 with 200 or 400hz cmr and 100hz panel?

Banned

it says 100hz processing rate so im catiously considering this to only be a 50hz panel?

I have this tv. Bought about 2 months ago. Great, sd and hd look amazing movies actually look too good like they are a making of! Now tv a bit temperamental on the consistency of image quality compared to using the now tv box. 1 main niggle is sometimes dark programmes (mainly revolution) are ghosty. Undecided whether it's the tv or the tivos problem as it's not on all. Oh good to is that the tv passes dolby from the tivo to my bluray surround system. Don't have a tv aerial so can't tell you what the tuner is like.

I read somewhere this has to do with the Trumotion setting, does it sound familiar? Have you tried disabling this setting to get rid of the 'soap opera' or 'making of' effect?

It's played every file I have tried, pretty sure Including mkv I am sure I tried one.

The hd picture is really really good on this the hd 1080p br rips I have tried look stupidly good for such a cheap tv. Personally I can't see how anyone could be disappointed with a 42" led tv with this level of features, wifi, smart tv network media playback etc for £360.

It even looks good. If you can get a better featured, better quality screen of this size for less than £400 I would love to see it.

Many thanks I'm heading to JL in a while so I'll see if there are any hotter deals.. hopefully the good old Sony with the 7ms input lag will be on offer

Just went in to but one, they had it on regular freeview (which is odd for currys, most tv's were on freeview) - the picture was terrible, by far the worst there apart from a dearer LG one. Very grainy.
Bearing in mind most of what I watch isn't in HD I'll give this a miss.

Also went to have a look today, the picture I thought was actually very good, comparable to other higher priced models, however what I didn't like was that in my opinion the screen was very reflective, much more than the Sony, Panasonic or Samsung. I had a wonder around and appears that most (not all) of the LGs on display suffered from the same issue. Not great for watching TV in the daytime and don't fancy sitting in the dark for casual viewing, so gave it a miss.

Knowing our local the leads were probably held in place with gaffer tape!
Decided to go for a Panasonic TX-L42E6B which seemed to be the best of the lower end market.

The Panasonic TX-L42E6B also on my short list, alongside the Sony KDL42W653 and the Samsung UE40F6400. All in similar price range from Currys. What was the deciding factor on the TX?
Edited by: "Pattersons21" 26th Dec 2013

I have just bought one of these at the currys store in oxford, couldn't be happier with it, the picture quality on the HD channels is amazing. It also comes with 3 months free NOW TV sky movies, or 7 days worth of codes for sky sports. The magic controller is a amazing pit of kit. Well worth the £399 price tag. Would recommend this to anyone.

Looks like a good price. Heat!

Mainly the quality of the picture, but overall it looked a lot more thin/modern/clean.

Just picked up this TV from Currys at £399, its a model only available at Currys and PC World. Fantastic picture with Bluray and Sky HD, it has 3 HDMI & 3 USB portsvwith built in WiFi. I was pondering for a 3D tv but went for this manily due to its true value with the point, drag, drop & click magic remote. Major Heat from me.
