Manufacturer's Description
42PQ6000
The HD Ready PQ6000 series has LG innovative single layer technology to provide an award winning frameless design.

HD Ready
High-definition television, or HDTV, is a new standard of TV with better-quality picture and sound than normal TV, the sort of standard you would see at a cinema. HDTV brings you closer to the action, offering more colours and a higher resolution picture (twice as many horizontal lines). This can make HDTV images clearer, sharper, more detailed and very lifelike.

Freeview/Digital
With LG, youll be ready for the digital switchover. By 2012, all areas of the UK will receive TV in digital as opposed to analogue. Freeview is a subscription free service which brings up to 48 digital TV channels including ITV2, E4, BBC3, and Film4 plus 24 digital radio stations, no contract and no satellite dish.

To check if you can receive Freeview in your area, text your postcode followed by your house number or name to 83331* or visit www.freeview.co.uk.

x3 HDMI
Connect your games console, blu-ray player or home cinema system through the 3 HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ports for a true High Definition multimedia experience.

AV Mode
With AV mode, you can customise picture settings to suit what you watch. LG TVs have three special modes (Cinema, Sport and Game modes) for enhanced picture and audio quality. These are easily accessible using the AV MODE hot key on the remote control. Cinema Mode - Watch movies with vivid colour, smoother motion and cinematic sound effect. Sport Mode Takes you closer to the action by emphasising the main colours and reducing motion blur. Game Mode Optimises the TV for computer and / or games console for a more dynamic gaming experience.

USB
The USB 2.0 feature allows you to connect a USB mass storage device to your LG product in order to play audio (MP3) files, display JPEG pictures and DivX Movies, enabling you to quickly transfer photographs and music to your TV.

600Hz
LG 600Hz Sub-Field Driving Plasma technology provides zero motion blur and the ultimate razor sharp response time perfect for watching high speed viewing such as sports and movies.

Invisible Speaker
The front bezel works as a speaker, replacing the normal speaker grill. With the Invisible Speaker System, the speakers are embedded in strategic spots underneath and around the front bezel. They enhance the audio by increasing the sweet spot to give a wider and richer sound field. This speaker system provides a clean and fashionable design compared with traditional side or bottom speaker designs.

Energy Saving Recommended
LG TVs help you save money and the environment. An Energy Saving Recommended Integrated Digital Television (IDTV) can save around £7 a year and 20 kilograms of CO2 each year compared to a similar TV and set top box; they are amongst the most efficient in their class. There are over 16 million terrestrial digital TV receivers in the UK, and if these were upgraded to IDTVs it would save around £112 million in energy bills. With energy-saving features such as Video Mute, mechanical power-off switch and Intelligent Sensor, LG has one of the largest ranges of TVs registered to the Energy Saving Trusts Energy Saving Recommended scheme. To gain entry to the Energy Saving Recommended scheme products have to meet strict criteria to ensure that they are amongst the most efficient in the market place. Have the 42PQ3000 which is a great TV. This is better spec but basically the same TV and £100 more than I paid for mine.

excellent tv for the price i have the 50 inch of this model looks sleek and great pic

I also have the LGPQ3000, I have seen the LGPQ3000 & LGPQ6000 side by side in a TV shop and the picture quality is identical. The only differences between the 2 sets is:

1.Glass panel finish on the 6000 (which I didn't like as it made it reflective)

2.Better sound system on the 6000 (couldn't personally tell the difference?)

3.USB - Divx compatible on the 6000 (didn't need as I have a divx DVD and a Fetch TV box and mainly watch H.264 format)

Taking that into account I would recommend the LGPQ3000 over the LGPQ6000 especially If you purchase it from Richer Sounds for £439.95 with a 5 Year Guarantee.(£399.95 without).]http//ww…tar

I take and am grateful for your points, but the DVIX ability of the 6000 over the 3000 surley must make it a better option at this price point... for you given your DVDs ability to deal with DVIX perhaps not? Personally the One piece glass fronted design of the 6000 is streets ahead in aesthetic appeal over those with a bezel(3000 etal) as for your "more reflective" argument not sure how you have deduced that, surface area of visible picture is the identical, panel used is the same, thus reflectivity is equal?

The glass sheet is a more reflective surface than other TV screens at this size and price point. Even taking that into account I would still rate this TV very highly for it's aesthetics, just don't put it in a spot where the sun shines directly on it. :-D

"The glass sheet is a more reflective surface than other TV screens at this size and price point"

For those concerned with reflection I have this tv, it has an anti reflective film on the glass screen, very minimal reflection when switched on.

warranty?

I bought one of these in Makros on a deal spotted here in January and all I can say is if your waiting to buy a decent TV at a great price, wait no longer!!!

Picture is fantastic on SD and on HD satellite channels truly stunning (in my eyes!).

Because from >5ft away only ninjas can spot the difference..... SD picture handling is also reportedly better on 720 given its more natural fit to the original resolution....

I guarantee my 40" Sony 40W5500 in 1080p looks better than this set in 720p, from as close or as far away as you like :whistling:

Much further on a 42" set - for someone with sharp eyesight (20/13), the optimal sitting distance with 1080p is around 9 feet, and the difference with 720p would be visible out to around 12 feet or so.

Resolution is over rated though, only one factor in many.

This Post isnt really about LCD vs Plasma, two differing technologies both offering benefits vs drawbacks, I posted this because: for a plasma TV of this size at this price point I don't think you can get a better plasma TV, my opinion. If others agree then great, if not I'm cool with that also... peoples opinions vary this isnt a one size fits all society? Im glad you like your Sony, its a great telly for sure but costs circa £250 more?.
