Also if anyone is wondering it has HDMI 2.0 so will run 60hz from pc tried and tested runs fine

A 4k TV on here the can actually run 4k out of the box with no additional source and HDMI 2.0? Makes a change from the usual POS

I was in my local Sainsburys yesterday and these were £499. :-(

Great TV, was considering this from Tesco at £499 last night. The 4k demo has amazing detail and colour.

Hang on, this is 60hz and 4K? Op are you sure?

Wow, might make a relatively cheap 4K gaming screen then.

Just got the 49" version, amazing tv

Be warned if you plan to connect this to a PC, if you have a 970 or 980 even though it will connect as an HDMI 2 this TV is not fully compliant.

At 60Hz it will be stuck in a reduced chroma mode (4:2:0 rather than 4:4:4) which is fine for watching videos but makes text hard to read and will not display some colours correctly.

I think only the lg 850 models support 4K at 60Hz and they are 49" or larger which is a shame because the 42" is a really good size if you are into development or content editing. Like having a 2x2 grid of 1080p 21" panels with a similar dpi to a 27" 1440p panel.

This is in the Lisburn store too with 10+ units last night.

Spot on ;-)

For anyone connecting to a PS/XB to take advantage of the 50/60hz this is fine, as they only output at up to HD, connected to any gaming system this TV [the 42"] has an individual mode to reduce the lag, which is game mode, this works by turning off a lot of the "electronic bypass filters" in the processing picture board. It works.

PC / digital video etc etc, works at 50-58hz via the SINGLE hdcp 2.2 hdmi channel this tv has, remember that hdcp 2 and 2.2 is all about "bandwidth" not speed, thus, if you are stuffing 4k+ resolution material down a 4k+ cable that is connected to a 4k+ up to 23gbps connected tv, you will get 50i/50p/60i/60p 4k+ and more.

This TV is one of the best 2014 4k 42" sets £ per spec out there and still is, the higher range 850v's support 4k+ and the later 265 compression, on all 3 ports.

So if you want to dip your feet in the "4k" tv market for a few years, this is a cracking price to do so, up scaling from any normal 720/1080 fed content to 4k is very good, the blacks are black, the colours are bright [especially in movie/dynamic/custom mode] and it looks good when watching Eastenders ;-)

This seems a great price for a 4k TV.

I have a question though for anyone who owns it, how does SD / DVD and quality look on the TV as I still watch some of this content?

There were a few of these in the Lancaster store on Sunday if that helps anyone.

What would 1080p pc gaming look like? i want to watch 4k content but also game in 1080p

Is there a way to check online the stock levels?

Or do you have to ring around?

4 in carlisle last night

Thanks that is great help to me

Yes saw this in my local Sainsburys at the weekend

Hhhmmm so no good for PC gaming using a single GTX 980 ?

If it is 60hz and 4k it will be the first 4k deal I vote hot on.

Seen in mansfield sainsburys too

For those of you who are looking for a monitor theres this 4k 40inch PC monitor from Phillips. Its cheaper at amazon but not currently in stock. I personally am going to wait for prices to drop

overclockers.co.uk/sho…898

Not bad at all. Seems the first decent 4k TV deal. If only it was the 49".

For pc gamers wait a few months for freesync. It's awesome and a bit of a game changer for pc monitors.

I agree with you, I wish it was 49" too

A few left on Coventry store also, I bought one and there were 5 left !

Only samsung and Philips are future proof. when the technology updates you buy a small plug in box rather than a new TV. read up on 4k before spending out. Great picture though

Costco are selling these for £480 including a 5 year warranty. Useful if you have access to a Costco card.

Just ordered this with free 5 Yr Warranty from John Lewis SAME PRICE!!!

Simple - with just a couple of phone calls....

1. Locate a big Sainsbury's store on web and call them - my local (Chelmsford Springfield, Essex) confirmed loads of stock came in today. But Rayleigh in Essex and Northfleet, Kent also had plenty.

2. Call a John Lewis store to check stock there (£529 with warranty). I called Bluewater and they reserved me a set - last one they had today - sorry! Told them about £399.99 price in Sainsbury's and which stores had stock. They filled out a request for one of their 'undersale team' to check it out and promised they'd call me within 24hrs. They also said that if indeed they do honour it, they'll price match and deliver it to me free.

3. Two hours later.....Sorted! The John Lewis 'undersale team' just called back and will honour the price - so I'm getting same TV but with John Lewis 5 Yr Warranty - bang tidy! Initially the rep from the undersale team said that I'd have to collect (thus exactly matching the Sainsbury's offer) but I challenged it as the AV dept at Bluewater had previously said they'd deliver when I made the earlier reservation. Thus it was honoured and the TV's coming next week!

No trips to Sainsbury's or John Lewis required...price match, free delivery and 5 Year Warranty....Chuffed to bits!

Any idea if this tv is also available in any of the stores in Cambridge?

6 in stock in Bristol, and a few around the Bristol area (except Portished, apparently)

shak

Nice, well done, bit of hard work, a deal on here and you are set for the next 5 years worth of use ;-)

I've been using it today with a gtx 980 once you have played with the settings on TV and pc and using hdmi 2.0 cable it works really well. 980 can play most games at 4k obviously ultra high end games may require two cards.
