SimplyElectricals and RGBdirect are selling these sets for £899.99!

So, considering how popular my previous thread was on the 2012 tv I bought from Amazon.de; I thought I'd post this for the 2013 version, so people who have bought this set in the UK can discuss it here and give feedback.

It's EUR655.45 after delivery is included. Which is about 565.76 ish! £6 cheaper than what I bought the 2012 version for! As my previous thread, I used a Halifax Clarity Card thus no foreign exchange fees and the best exchange rate. Make sure you read your bank's t&cs and add the % commission fee to the price before justifying the purchase.

To purchase, make sure you select "NO, I want to pay in Euros" and pay in Euros. DO NOT let Amazon convert it to £s for you and then pay. As it usually works out cheaper if you pay in Euros yourself (it did when I purchase my TV anyway, try work it out yourself).

Oh yeah, had a ton of comments before. Basically use Chrome and Google Translate extension to translate the site!

Black and White colour are the same price. The UK version of this is LG 47LA640V.

Bluray Player details: LG BP420 3D Blu-ray player (Smart TV, DLNA, HDMI, Upscaling 1080p, LAN, USB)

Or for £100 ish extra you can buy the next model up, LG 47LA6608 with IPS Panel (and maybe other added extras but I'm not sure).

Awesome price

looks good. any reviews for this set anywhere?

tempting not sure if worth getting the 6608 with ips and better nicer edge

I take it NO Free view HD then, as it is a EU model?

I ordered the 6608 a couple of nights ago. Should arrive tomorrow. Think it was about 750 euros.

I'm only assuming here, but for my 2012 set there was no HD through the Freeview BUT the HD channels (plus others such as RT HD, NHK world HD), I was able to get from the satellite tuner (ie. you can connect a satellite cable to this set and receive free-to-air channels; but it is NOT Freesat (you can only see now and next for the Satellite EPG).

Sure the 50" version was on offer for £495 inAsda

I think that may be a completely different model mate. As fas as I'm aware the few latest LG LEDs are only in 42", 47", and 55".
Edited by: "TheShadowWalker" 26th Jul 2013

If only this was 50" or higher... A bit short for me

what's the difference between the two?

From what I can tell for the extra money the 6608 gives you 400HZ (instead of 200HZ), local dimming (improves quality of blacks) and a IPS panel. I think its worth paying the extra ££.

The 47 inch comes in at 949 Euros , check the size box for the true price of this TV , WELL COLD
Edited by: "bigdaveplym" 26th Jul 2013

Checked the size box and mine still says 769.99 for the 47. I'm not too bothered about the iplayer and freeview, I have sky and can get Iplayer through the TV's browser or my sky box, ps3 etc etc.

Admittedly I was heavily drunk at the time, it was probably a Samsung. Apologies.

My 6608 arrived today.

Not been able to even get it out of the box yet. Not allows until I've finished building a load of furniture. It comes with 6 pairs of glasses and a magic remote thing though!

So was that about three days for delivery, when did you order?

Have you tested it yet?

No Freesat- You will get the sat stations but no freesat epg, just now and next.
Freeview works perfect BUT no HD stations.
Apps and bbc player etc work the same as a uk model

This deal is actually for the 6408 so no need to expire. But yeah, I've removed the 6608 as that's a massive price increase! I guess people who got in there when it was EUR776 were lucky!

Wouldn't mind some help as to my best options here. I don't mind a 42", noticed this;
amazon.de/gp/…NR4
Any good?
Thanks in advance...

I think the UK model is this one:

Personally I think I'll wait to see if the 6608 comes back in stock

Why are TVs in Germany so much cheaper than the UK?

Hey, I messaged you back. But yeah, the link you posted isn't really a great deal as you would have been better off getting the 47" when I posted it awhile back that was only EUR668. I guess you could try and put a camelcamelcamel price watch/alert if you're not in a hurry to buy a tv and wait for it to go down again.

Hi, the LM is 2012 LG series line. The LA are the newer 2013 LG series line. The UK model for this tv deal is the 47LA640V. So here simplyelectricals sells it for £899: simplyelectricals.co.uk/lg-…tml From this link there's also some features that I did not mention such as Miracast, MHL Link, Voice commands. However, from the link it says Magic Remote Control Ready. Yet the Amazon Germany page says that Magic Remote IS included.

I also read that this 47LA640V is BACKLIT LED but the 47LM649S is EDGE-LIT LED...I may be wrong though as I only read it somewhere. Also here's a Video review I found for the UK model: youtube.com/wat…iNM

Oh and apparently in my LG LM deal thread, someone said they own this tv and the BBC iplayer app doesn't work. But there's a workaround. Here's what he said (member name: ziko):

"I have the 47LA6608 model.

Bad news:
No, the iplayer app does NOT work, I think it is a problem with the app not the TV/Region. A friend did have a similar problem with his Samsung TV and has been fixed by an update.

Good news:
You can easily open the iplayer form the TV's web browser, which from my experience is very easy to access using the magic remote and maybe even better than the iplayer TV app (For example, I prefer to access youtube through the web browser over the youtube app). In my opinion most of the TV apps are designed to be used with a standard remote not the "magic remote" which is really magic and worth the extra money.

So, for me it is not a problem at all."

Forgot to mention, others have mentioned that the 6608 has an IPS panel.

You also get a free LG 3D Bluray player worth £99 when you order the 47LA640V from amazon.de. Just ordered mine today. Heat added btw!

The 6608 is back in stock again at the same price, but the hobbit Blu-Ray has dissapeared from the offer (no biggie I've seen it at the cinema anyway). So i've ordered should be here on Thursday. The 640 with the Blu-Ray was really tempting but as I don't need a blu-ray and I'll more than likely have the TV for the next 5 years I decided to stump up the extra for the 6608.

Still debating with myself over 6608 vs 6408.
Just noticed that the 6608 bezel looks thinner than the 6408. Can anyone confirm thickness of each. I must admit I do like the idea of a nice thin bezel.

Ta!

Can't believe this set weighs 1.5KG less than my old Samsung 40" LCD

More details on the 2013 LG series here (scroll down for specs on each tv versions. From this link, it definitely looks like the 6608 has a much thinner bezel than the 6408. It also states that the 6608 has 400hz MCI. And I read somewhere the the 2013 LA series has a Subwoofer and two speakers too.

tra…ate.google.co.uk/tra…ate?hl=en&sl=tr&u=forum.donanimhaber.com/m_7…660

I almost missed it but they're giving away free with the TV a pair of Metallic 3D specs with the 6608, you need to add them to your order and they will apply the discount at checkout. Always handy to have an extra pair, they seems to be worth about £20 so a decent bonus.

A better pic of the specs is here:

lg.com/eg_…ons

Also from the forum posted by shadowwalker it states the power consumption 66w, that is impressive if true, my old set uses 200w.

After much deliberation ordered the 6608 in black. Plumped for the 42" for the great price of EUR640 with extra glasses (thanks to scoopy).
Thanks to shadow walker for his timely and extra help, much appreciated.

Found this review of the UK version of the 47" 6608, this guy paid £1100 back in may for his. His main complaint about the TV is LG didn't include an additional normal remote, as the magic remote is great for the smart TV functions but no so great for normal tv control. Its not an issue for me as I'll be using my harmony remote as the main remote and just grab the magic remote when I want to use the smart TV functions. The rest of review is very positive he gives the TV 10 out 10.

There's also this review here which largely focuses on the smart features and magic remote:

I purcahsed the 6608 when it was EUR 799, however the screen was cracked. I contacted Amazon.de who happily sent out a replacement and refunded the postage of £72.90. I also noticed that the price went down to EUR 769, and again Amazon happily refunded this too.

Love the TV by the way!

Great to hear your feedback, mine should be here either tomorrow or Friday, how did they handle to return did they send a courier or did you have to arrange your own collection?

Also one thing to note about the 6608 (not sure this is true of the 6408) is that it does full 1080p in 3D mode, many older 3D passive TVs only did 540p in 3D mode.

They were unable to send a courrier, and it's too big for the post office to take so I had to arrange my own collection and send the invoice to them.
