LG 47LA640V 47" Full HD 3D Smart LED TV £569 @ Crampton & Moore

Found 11th Feb 2014
Looking for a 47" TV and this seems to tick all the boxes. Guess it is a discontinued TV but it is Passive 3D (cheap glasses), Smart, WiFi and 47" for less than £600. Crampton and Moore seem to be a good seller too. Hope it helps.

Richer Sounds have this for £699, although it does include a 5 year warranty richersounds.com/pro…40v

I bought the 47LA690V for £699 from JL on Saturday.
Price matched Crampton and Moore
£100 of the regular price.
Usual 5 year warranty thrown in.
Very pleased.

I have this particular model TV, the SMART features are great, and the DNLA is handy to have, If however you are buying this TV to use it's 3D features often.....Don't! the cross talk on it is horrendous, so bad in fact you spend the film looking at the cross talk issues on screen.

Interesting POV from an actual owner of the TV.

I've had two 3D TV's from LG both passive and both great, I'm currently using the 960V and it is gorgeous, I would imagine that the quality should be pretty similar on this.

Great TV I bought in Jan Sales, I have no issue's with it at all, Controls and info easy to navigate around Even the sound is Ok for such a flat screen. Pictures on Freeview HD is top notch

Very good TV - bought one myself a few weeks ago. The Now TV offer is definitely still on. Recommended. The 3D is very good, the 2D picture quality is outstanding, the smart functions are good. Definitely recommend this TV, and Crampton and Moore were great to deal with.

don't buy for catch up tv........... you can only get bbc and channel 5 on it! No itv player and no 4od!

First 3D TV so can't compare to others but I'm really impressed. I haven't found much 3D content to watch yet though (any ideas)?
The sound from the TV speakers is good but I had a demo of the NB3540A sound bar and wireless sub woofer. Was so impressed I bought that yesterday.
It is fantastic!!!
what HiFi best buy.
Price natch PRC Direct at JL
Got it for £259 with 2 years warranty thrown in!
Easy to connect (wireless or optical)
Very impressed with the whole set up.
Gadget heaven !!!

I bought this TV in January and so far it has performed superbly. The 2d picture is superb and the 3D picture is also great, the 2D to 3D option is also surprisingly good. I bought the Magic Remote Control and it is amazing , besides being able to control the TV it also controls the Virgin Media Tivo box The smart options are very good. I don't use the TV sound much as I have a surround sound system, I have an Xbox one hooked up to the TV and the picture is amazing. The Now TV offer is on for some time.

I bought this TV from Richer Sounds in early January. Screen is good, sound is reasonable although I am now using a sound bar. 3D works well for me but don't actually use it much. I paid £599 with 5 year warranty. Now TV promo is a great feature and the whole family is enjoy the Sky Films. Was hoping the save the Sky sports passes for the Ryder Cup but they have an expiry date so will probably use for F1/Football. Smart TV works very well too although as pointed out limited catch up TV. Would I buy it again? - hell yeah.

I got this TV on Monday, richer sounds had it up for £549 in Jan so I price matched at JL for the 5 year warranty. The TV is everything you want in a TV. The 3D is a good quality and the smart TV function is slick.

Anyone got a good deal for a sound bar for this? Or one someone would recommend.

The only 3D content I see is the Free stuff on the SKY 3D channel and through Blu ray.
Glad your happy with the TV, are you saying that John Lewis will PM this price from PRC?

Never seen this model on John Lewis website.

I bought the LG NB2530a. It works well with TV and being LG the volume control on the TV remote controls the volume on the bar. It does not have a separate subwoofer, but sounds reasonable enough for me - I have spent the last year or so simplifying, and have got rid of hugely expensive surround system etc and have opted for ease of use - this sound bar falls into that category. It has bluetooth which is handy, and came with its own brackets for attaching to wall.

Got the 690V version in the Jan sales. It's an outstanding TV with the 2D picture being particularly good. The 640V uses the same screen so I can't see much being different. 3D content is hard to come by but what I have watched on it was good but I did read somewhere that while 3D can be a bit of a gimmick virtually any 3D TV will excel at 2D and I think I have found that to be the case. The freeview HD channels and blu-rays in 1080p on this are so much better than my last TV as to be unrecognizable.

Add to that the NOW TV offer and it's definitely a hot deal.

Bought this tv from currys before Christmas and very happy with the quality. Have linked it to my denon dm39 and the sound quality is terrific. The apps are very easy to use and 3d is great quality on sky and DVD.

How would I be able to get the john lewis price match/warranty that everybodys talking about on this tv?? Seems like a good price.

As far as I can make out you just print of the details of the offer you want them to price match, then take it in store. I'm not sure though weather the offer has to be within an 8 mile radius?

I don't even see where the TV is on the JL website?

is this edge lit or back lit?

Just been on the John Lewis site & can't see this model either! Can one of the people who got them to price match post a link please

JL price match the site & give the 5 year waaranty with all there TV's - so you don't have to do (or pay) anything extra

Have this tv and have no regrets, tv sound is clear but lacks any depth ie bass, but if your paying 530 which was off c&m eBay site for a tv with all these great features and all in a slim package it's expected. Sound bar really adds to any viewing experience but isn't essential for watching tv, but Defo nice for films! 3D on sky is simply amazing!
Catchup works great but is limited, unless you use web addresses which means you get the extra players too technically!
FreeviewHD is great and it also comes with a satellite socket! Not sure what it will pickup, will try one day! But please don't think this is freesat HD as I don't think it is! Picture is great with a lot of custom ability, I have to turn of motion clarity for films else it looks like eastenders... Weird!

It's a solid tv on its stand and bright with no Obvious DSE. Dirty screen... If you look hard enough you may notice, but don't, there is no point! It's fine! ;-)

Don't think anyone would regret buying TV, it's a great value package at the lowest price point for smart and 3D, and smooth picture with good enough 200 motion clarity aka 100 refresh rate.

The compromise is the sound which wasn't as good as 5 year old LG tv but then it's 1/8 of the thickness weight and as speaker boxes need to be vast you can't have your cake and eat it sometimes, it's 1/4 of the power consumption too! So I just flick my Phillips soundbar on which brings it to life! You can also adjust sound delay to sync up perfectly which is a massive bonus!!

Just got John Lewis to price match their 620 model price of £629 against this 640 model. Think the only difference is NFC and weight and dimensions. Is this correct?

Thanks OP. I've ordered one and it will be with me on Monday hopefully.
Only problem now is that I'll probably need a new amp if I want to play 3d Blu Rays!
Thanks for all those who shared their experiences with this tv on this thread.

Bear in mind your sky feed is only 50htz... so all these people with 100hz/200 tvs... it doesn't just come into its own, you need to feed it properly!
