You would be about 100x better off getting this: … You would be about 100x better off getting this: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sony-kdl-46hx853-782-10-delivered-3d-led-wi-fi-1423498

Would be very useful to all if you indicate what is better in the Sony option (rather than just saying X100 better off)
Got this telly in July, Fantastic tv. great on the 3d movies, good viewing angle. and for that price a cracking deal. (I paid £723)
got this from amazon for similar price... plus got a 50 quid amazon gift voucher in the deal after i subscribed to lovefilm for a month
active 3d sucks personaly to me. i got both tvs passive and active
sony is active 3d and glases cost fortune

I agree, 100times better is meaningless . After researching a new tv for myself and reading reviews / user forums ive came to the following conclusion

the sony will have better colour accuracy and motion handling, for example motionplus on the sony will resolve all 1080 lines whereas the LG is a lot less. hdtv test has it listed somewhere between 300 and 600 i believe. In plain english motion on the sony won't blur whereas the LG will have blur.

One of the criticisms against LG is they have banding , but a lot of people are returning their sony's for poor uniformity too so it's par for the course with these thin tv's . Also the LG should play more file formats off usb stick , the sony for obvious reasons won't play MKV .

Sound, despite having a sound bar ive heard the sony on a few occasions now and it's frankly disappointing considering they make a big deal of it having one. It wouldn't surprise me if there isn't much between the LG and Sony for sound quality but this like everything is subjective

Aftersales LG get slated on avforums as basically they seem to be useless at solving problems. not sure about sony aftersales. If in doubt buy from john lewis

After reading all the reasons people return tv's i wouldnt buy a refurb(as given in link) as you know it's going to be one somebody sent back as faulty and they ain't gonna spend money repairing it to new standard given the economic climate so that means we are comparing a £650 tv versus a £1149 tv .

Yeah the sony is better but £500 better?

So if anybody can explain what makes it "100 times" better please do

why have you chose this tv? just out of curiosity as im after a new tv, all i want is full hd led and usb/hdmi ports maybe dnla, not bothered too much about smart a 3d but the choice and possible complications are overwhelming.

i havent yet, ive narrowed it down to a panasonic plasma either st50 / gt50 depending on price / warranty

sony 46hx853 if it was a grand , or a samsung 51e6500 which is top of my list and im hoping JL get more stock in the new year

this LG looks nice and i may pop into currys to see it , it's a lot of tv for not much money and i like passive 3d and the dual play appeals as i play split screen a lot. I just wish this model wasn't exclusive to currys as if john lewis sold it with their 5yr warranty it would be a great buy.

but you're right the options / complications are overwhelming. Good luck with whatever you choose
I've seen the lm670t for about 35 more on a number of sites just google an you shall find.
I had almost ordered Samsung UE46ES6300 for 749 until I found this one in Currys today. Booked. Doesnt makes sense to pay 749 for samsung with similar features except the active 3D bit, which i dont care much. Also this tv was 250 more just before christmas....
I was a bit worried about whether or not to go for this TV due to all the complaints about banding but as I don't watch a lot of sports decided that it would be fine. I have only had it for a few hours now but so far it seems a brilliant telly for the price. I watched the avengers in 3d earlier and was astounded by both the picture clarity and the 3d experience it offers. Even my wife commented on the 3d and she normally doesn't see 3d much at all!

The smart TV functionality is nice to have, and the built-in wi-fi means I'm more likely to use it as I don't need to faff about getting it wired up.

So far I'd definitely recommend it - I'm going to delve into the masses of picture tweaking options later to satisfy my inner nerd and get the absolute best picture my eyes can perceive

I did a search. The price you mention is for a 42inch. This is a 47 inch version.

how do you find the sound from the inbuilt speakers?

i know people always say get a sound bar but i like the convience of a tv with good inbuilt sound
I've found the speakers to be pretty good so far - I watched the dark night rises on it tonight and there were bangs in all the right places and I could hear all the conversations with decent clarity I tested out a 3d demo this morning from an underwater imax scene and the amount the 3d came out of the screen was incredible.

thanks for the feedback, i found the 3d really good instore too.
so vote cold because its been listed before sounds a bit immature to me still a hot deal isnt cheaper anywhere else. this site is called hot deals isn't it
I watched the demo in currys and pc world for quite a while. I have to say the 3D to my eyes is inferior to active 3D. Whilst the lower res didn't make much of a difference I saw loads of ghosting/crosstalk.

Its good for families and those who get headaches from active 3D. If you are not in one of those camps I'd avoid and get an active solution.
are you sure you were eye level to the screen? passives have a narrow horizontal viewing angle which is why some people wall mount them then complain about cross talk

passive in theory should have little or no crosstalk unless the source does?

LOL was about to post this again as missed them all.
Anyway got one of these and it is a great TV bigger than I thought(yes I know the clue is in the name 47"! but there is very little bezel (although there is still a band around when the TV is on) and nearly burned my eyes out out of the box but got it set up now.
Same price as the 620.
640 not been available on amazon I dont think. 620 and 660.
This set seems to have the best bits of the 660, but without the wand remote.
Haven't found an ITV player app yet or 4/5OD either.
Dual play is good although had to pay extra for the glasses.
I bought this set and i'm happy with it although i did have to turn off tru motion as it just sped everything up and made it look very un-natural.
awesome tv
I'm thinking about buying this TV and the only thing that really makes me want to buy it is the fact that you can play split screen but still have a full screen to your self using the glasses it comes with. Has anybody tryed this yet because i havent and if it's any good it will be a big plus for me because i'm always playing two player.

No it's not up to much it works but not very well.I've tried Halo 4 and GOW3
After 2,5 years of using it, display gone. There are horizontal black stripes.
