HOT! which JL store is it? I want to try it if I am closer to that store.

It was done online yesterday morning via johnlewis.com/hel…spx and confirmed this morning and subsequently ordered.
Quality deal that! Heat added!

I paid this for a HD Ready 3D number about a year ago!
I got a price match on the Samsung 32 inch HD 3DTV that retails at £420 and comes with 2x 3D glasses. Got it for £350 + 5 year warranty from John Lewis.
Good deal, you cant beat JL pricematch and 5yr just got a new 3d TV in the 4th year after so long they cant find a replacement original so I got a choice of 2
PASSIVE 3D. Not active glasses. No thanks.

PASSIVE 3D. Not active glasses. No thanks.

I prefer passive to active
how do you get it from jl at the same price?
I've found passive to be far better to active. Good deal!
how does this tv compare to this one?

I like the LG passive 3d, passive 3d is what you get at most movie theaters.
my Phillips Passive 3d tv is so much better than my friends samsung active 3d.
not worth it
not really a good deal. For 80pounds more you can get 47 LED 3D Smart Panasonic with free 2x Active 3d glasses.
Bought week ago: TXL47ET50B from
electrical123.
I'm wanting it for my son, but passive is nowhere near as good quality 3d as active is. You can't get a full 1080p picture through passive glasses whereas you can with active.

And what makes that tv better?
I think i'm going to order this over the Samsung UE46ES6800. any objections/reasons?

Am only really getting a 3d TV for the improved 2D image so this makes more sense. And i've always preferred Passive to Active, but that's a preference thing since 3D doesn't seem to work all that well for me.

I think 3DTV will probably die off soon enough anyway.

what's the difference between this and 47LM670T?

the only difference I can see is energy ratings and a slight shape/size difference...
tempting
24p playback is a problem on these sets. I recently purchased a Samsung UE46ES6710 after doing a LOT of research.

These LG sets are nice but the juddering 24p playback is big problem for me as I watch a lot of movies. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and almost purchased it but after an extensive demo in JL I decided not to.

Passive 3D is easier on the eyes and gives you a more 'pop out' effect. Active gives you much better clarity (full resolution) and has a more depth 3d effect.

Before I get flamed, the Samsung also has issues with clouding. I have tweaked my picture settings to the point where its only visible on a full black screen like credits so I can live with it. This is lower end of the 42"+ market so dont expect the TV to be perfect and you wont be dissapointed...
Just to add the LG rep who was 'helping' me with the demo (wouldn't leave me alone) couldn't offer an explaination for the juddery picture when I pointed it out to him. I really like the look and picture of these TV's and they are excellent value at this price, shame they couldn't get the 24p playback right.
HOT . IHAVE SUBMITTED A JL PRICEMATCH CLAIM.
i've filled out the form at the john lewis website what happens next? do the call once they have verified it and take payment over the phone?

I submitted 3 on Friday with 3 different emails ,my partners my brother and mine and JL in Edinburgh price matched them all today.
I've just had an email with a price match code
seems a bit of a hassle that they refund the money after delivery i just thought they would give me it at the cheaper price.

you can ring and book and I think you just get it at the matched price.

scratch that you can't. Price match seems to always be a refund type policy.

what's the difference between this and 47LM670T?

Nothing, they're both awful.

I had three of these sets from John Lewis and sent all of them back. Picture quality, banding and clouding rendered them unwatchable.

Even though I prefer passive 3D I eventually paid the extra and picked up the Sony 46HX853.

It's easily worth the extra. You can watch football on it without wanting to punch your TV in the face for starters.
