This would make for a beautiful mid range gaming TV

120hz
RGBW display - please do sufficient research before you vote cold on this point.
10 Bit display. Not 8 +2 like the description says.
15ms input lag so ideal for gaming. (Though not a monitor)
Nano cell tech.
This is not OLED nor is it a monitor...and it's not a flagship or top spec tv...what it is, is a very good television for the money, IMO the best at this price point.

I don't believe so has it's an aluminium casing

In store only I believe

How does it stack against the LG 49UJ630V - that one seems to be cheaper?

Ask John Lewis to price match?
Ask Amazon to price match?
Argos have it but hard to find c&c
Hope this helps

I agree...personally I haven't purchased this yet due to Black Friday but this is the TV I want in my life. But this tv rarely to my knowledge moves in price I'm really hoping amazon will have it in a black Friday offer =)

It's not 10 bit (ask LG) and it has been around this price for a while. However, it's a good TV and with Richer sounds 6 year warranty it's tempting. Waiting for it to come down a bit more. Bring on Friday! (not voted)

It was £799a few weeks ago in most of the major retailers.

LG says is 10 bit and some other sources online.

This guy gone the extra mile to prove it

Anyway I made my decision up purely by looking at it in the shops. To me has the best pic on this price range and couldn’t care less how they do it.

This or the sony bravia kd49xe8004, im stuck between these 2. Will mostly be used for gaming.help please

I've only been looking for last 2 weeks so must of missed that!! Even better deal then haha!

Waiting for the 55 inch version to be in Black Friday. Very’s website are stating price will be lower on Black Friday. It’s has a IPS panel and future proof ( Dolby Vision). The response time for gaming is very good. This is well worth considering if OLED is out of budget.

Only downside to this tv other than not being 8k or OLED...
Be wary if your not wall mounting that the stand is far apart so you need to measure whatever your placing it on!

I bought this from RicherSounds the other week for £599. I love the TV. Colours need a bit of setting up but other than that it's great. I got it for £599 by price matching an Argos deal that was on here for £584 I think. RicherSounds said that Argos do 1 year warranty whereas RicherSounds do 6 years so would do the TV for £599.

Highly recommend it for all round use. Xbox, netflix and HDR content all look great. Blacks aren't in the OLED range but neither is the price.

In case I buy this would you be able to post where you found your settings? Or could you pop so on here?
absolute steal also at £599.99!

Sold out in Glasgow. Guy said they expect new stock in about 7 days!

It’s back down to the price it was last month when I almost bought it. But in store only:/

It's been this price for a minute, I'm after the 55 inch which is at 800. Just waiting for a better price

Funny..I thought you were after the Samsung, and have only just in the past 30min considered looking at LG again because of the high spec this tv offers compared with Samsung at same price point? this TV is fantastic for the price! But I think both the 49 and 55 will come down again next week hopefully!
Edited by: "luke-kirk" 20th Nov

Also looking for a tv with IPS panel as my room is pretty bight.
and around a 49 inch to a 55 or 60.
I have a hitachi 42hyt42u which I bought used at the weekend its a great TV very portable but to small for me.
this be fine till I get something bigger tohugh.

Argos are offering this TV for £649, but had no stock locally. I managed to get John Lewis to price match though on Sunday. It came down to me being torn between this, or paying out an additional £150 for a Samsung UE49MU7000. Couldn't justify the price difference with how similar the specs were, even if Samsung is supposed to be better for offering genuine 4k.

Only last year's ks7000 would make me go for Samsung instead. This LG Sj series is the 1 for my budget. think the 49" is better value, but I want to go bigger

I am hoping it drops into the 600s!!

I know we live in a world of catch up options and online content, but a tv at this price without a twin tuner baffles me! HD content looks better when broadcast vs streamed on most apps (iplayer, all4, ITV especially) so I often prefer to record, but don't have sky, so a twin tuner would probably be a deal breaker for me - how annoying!

I got the 55sj850v from Argos just over a fortnight ago for £719 delivered using 10% code. The price has gone back up again, along with other major retailers to £900+ Maybe in time for the 14 days at this price so they can bring it back down for Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

Very happy with it and along with picture in general TV through Antenna and streams along with a couple of 10 bit HDR films (inbuilt player plays all formats and audio) via USB2 and 3 directly connected to TV also that I have tried so far. The inbuilt TV speakers are very good, except for 7.1 and Atmos sound (unsurprisingly). But hopefully if the LG SJ8 soundbar comes down for Black Friday, it may improve on this.

Inbuilt WEB OS is a doodle to use and sets the TV up and pairing of devices in 15-20 minutes very easily and the Matrix TV browser works on it also for iptv services

The edge lighting at the very bottom and top of the screen can be a little noticeable at times on black bars of letterbox films. But doesn't show on displayed black of normal picture display.

Agreed, but the solution I used has actually suited me. My wife likes a much lighter programme than the recommended darker settings I used and prefer from rtings.com for the 850. So I just use a Humax Freeview recorder for her programmes and her factory settings and I use the Live TV on the WebOS for my programmes. The only problem is we want to watch the same programme

I returned a SJ850V for a B7V because two separate LG reps told me that all of their 2017 LED panels are 8-bit with dithering.
