I believe it’s 10bit (8bit + FRC) but I have no idea what that even means

FRC is a type of dithering to approximate the extra colors.

Basically it means you flash between two colors on opposite sides of the color you’re trying to approximate. Then to the human eye it sort of blends together to the right color.

But it is still an imperfect solution. Certainly 8-bit+FRC is closer in quality to basic 8-bit than to real 10-bit color.

That said, 8-bit color alone is already pretty good, and FRC will generally improve on that a little further.

Likewise, got this for £599 around Black Friday with a bunch of vouchers.

Stuck on the wall couple of days around, so far happy with it.

What's the smart menu interface like. Wasn't really keen on the current Panasonic ones?
Good price for this tv... Shame there's no vouchers to bring it down further
Cheers op. The 55inch version is on offer for £749 too.
Great Tv.. owned it for a month now. Superb tv n excellent connectivity. Loving it. Bought for £599 (plus 5 year guarantee including accidental damage for £100 extra)
Thank you, heat added 😊

It's really great. When I was looking at TVs I was ignoring the smart TV features because I have a separate Nvidia sheild TV that runs android TV. But since getting the TV I do everything through the TV interface. It's quick and unobtrusive, just coming up on the bottom of the screen unlike android tv.
plus the remote has a Netflix and amazon button which makes it even easier to get to that content.
RGBW panel though (sorry, someone had to say it - pony up and get the 850v instead
This or the Sony KD49XE8396?
Any good for xbox one x.?
Anyone aware of a better 49inch deal? Or if there has been a much better deal in the past?
Shame it is silver in colour...Do they do it in black or grey?

Thats what I've been eyeing up... pretty good price for that size. A little voucher or something would push me all in

Yeah, except it's 300 odd quid more expensive at 899 most places!

On a 4K screen it's debatable whether dithering is visible at all. This is definitely just one of those things that it'a absurd to argue on a mid-range TV like this.

The important point to emphasise is that this has nothing to do with the overall colours that are on the screen, and the human eye doesn't perceive colours consistently enough that it affects accuracy. It also has little to do with HDR.

The main impact on the picture that (effective) bit depth has is banding - visible steps between colours on what should be a smooth gradient. There are other things that also cause banding though, so it can be difficult to separate out the effect of them from the panel bit depth.

If banding bothers you I'd personally be looking at the results of banding tests and user reports about it rather than trying to guess which is a good implementation from the specs.
Anyone used a ps4 pro with this TV? What's the input lag like?

That TV is 4k at least. Webos is nice, love it on mine. I'd avoid any LG with model number under 850/8500 unless glitch level cheap

Gonna get shot down for this................ But I see that the 850V can be had for £499 although it is classed as graded. Comes with a 5 year warranty though.... Fire away!!

And just noticed its UF model, not a SJ.... Whats the difference?

F instead of J means it's a 2015 model instead of a 2017 model.

He meant you should go for the sj850v slightly better spec than this and a VA RGB panel (I think). From my knowledge the UF models aren't 120hz and don't have the Nano Cell tech

Had a wii console? Its like that! Its good
Bought it yesterday, love it. Smart menu is so easy to use. Picture is beautiful and sharp after you tweak it a little. Bluetooth wouldn't pick up my Sony speaker tho.
Got it for £600 with 3 years cover. Curry's are eager to sell the cover and manager gave me a 60% discount. So ask and you shall receive

Edit: it connects fine to the speaker, and works like a dream. TV remote also controls the speaker.
