My first post, I’ve had my eye on this telly for a little while now, I think this is the cheapest it’s been until now..........Unless of course, any of you know different! It gets pretty good reviews, oh, and if anyone out there has any other recommendations, I only have a small living room so this is about as big as I can go.

I think this will be a lovely TV but I’m holding out for a deal on the LGsk8100 which seems similar but can go for around £150 less.
Just compared and the 8500 has FALD rather than edge lit so if you’ve got the £ then this is a better Telly
You’re right, I’ve been waiting until this week to pull the trigger, I believe that Curry’s are the only UK stockists of this model, so with their BF price promise I’ve got nothing to loose by buying now I suppose. I’ve seen this tv in action, very impressive and great reviews from What HiFi as well.
Brought the 65inch LGSK8100 for £999 from Richer sounds with 6years guarantee great tv and price
Been looking as well but at the 55”
In the current market, isnt this a tad over expensive? On the 'Currys exclusive'... a few shops do this, they get the manufacturer to change one number so you cant price comparison....usually except with members of the same gang.

the 8100 is edgelit " Leds placed around the side which leads to colour in balance. Its also only 50hz refresh rate which is standard in cheap tvs.

the 8500 is back lit LED which gives more balanced colours, and 100mhz refresh rate.

im going to get the 8500

The LG SK8500 is a better set hands down. It’s much sleeker aesthetically while the SK8100 is rather chunky with wider bezels.

The SK8500 is also FALD so a much brighter picture and overall the extra £ are worth it.
Just picked the 55 inch version up 🏻

Challenge you to find a cheaper true 10 bit
This should be hotter in my opinion. I base this is the review from Which, and if you are able to read will for the opinion that for the money nothing comes close to it. Plus 10% cash back from quidco the next 2 days makes it even better

Yeah, there is more to a TV than your 'buzzword of the day'. LOTS more.
Very nice screen, had a look at this and the OLED in Currys earlier this week. Can't decide if I should spend nearly double on an OLED! Watching standard HD TV mostly via streaming box, just upgraded to a Shield.
