Use code TVS10 save 10% Packed full of exciting new technology, including HDR Plus and the world-class webOS 3.0 operating system, the LG 49UH770V is set to lead the field.

Super UHD with HDR Plus for stunning contrast levels
With their unique 'HDR Plus' technology, LG have pushed the abilities of 4K UHD resolution to the max. HDR (High Dynamic Range) Plus extends the range of colours for enhanced realism. It also delivers brighter whites and darker blacks, helping to give this TV stunning levels of contrast.

Dolby Vision for dramatic imaging
Dolby Vision optimises the HDR format to give quite simply the sharpest, most accurate images possible. Dolby vision-equipped TVs, like this LG, can decode both generic HDR content and content that's specifically been encoded in Dolby Vision - a leading format in Hollywood and cinemas. Dolby Vision also adjusts the picture to take full advantage of each display's characteristics and presents an optimized picture for each scene in specially mastered content.

SDR to HDR conversion - the best possible picture from Blu-ray
Another unique feature with LG's HDR Plus technology is the ability to convert SHD (Standard Dynamic Range) video to HDR for near-HDR quality from all your standard High Definition sources. This means that Blu-rays and other FHD content has greater realism, more depth and sharper detail than ever.

Superior sound thanks to Harmon Kardon
Developed in conjunction with AV and Hi-Fi experts Harman Kardon, this 49 inch TV's audio system offers a step-up from the average 'thin' flatscreen TV sound. ULTRA Surround is also standard and gives a more spacious and immersive sound. With a compatible LG soundbar you'll be able to take advantage of the Wireless Sound Sync for a wire-free connection between components.

The best smart interface is better than ever with webOS 3.0
Widely acclaimed as one of the best smart TV interfaces, LG's webOS 3.0 operating system is now better than ever. WebOS 3.0 uses superimposed icons, folders and side bars for clear and easy access to smart content without leaving the current screen image. New to webOS 3.0 is the ability for split screen viewing, letting you watch live TV and Blu-ray, for example, at the same time. Other new features include LG smart appliance control and access to the LG Music Player app playing through the TV's speaker system - even when it's turned off.

Freeview Play for catch-up TV
Freeview Play makes catch-up TV easy. Find programmes from BBC iPlayer, the ITV Hub, All4 and Demand 5 sitting alongside over 60TV Channels and up to 15 HD channels. Simply scroll back in your TV guide to watch shows you missed from the last 7 days. Just make sure your TV is connected to the internet and you're good to go.

New "Magic" tech
Linking in with the new webOS 3.0 system is a range of "Magic" features. These include Magic Zoom for screen magnification without loss of image quality. The Magic Mobile Connection lets you stream apps from your smartphone, straight to the TV, for seamless big screen entertainment. An updated Magic Remote will now also operate the power on your set-top box, giving effortless one-remote control of your TV.

which is better? this or … which is better? this or http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-ue50ku6000-50inch-4k-hdr-smart-led-439-00-argos-2711172

This is a much better TV has a lot more features and is made very well really good quality, There is a downside tho the local dimming system is really bad and causes light streaks down the screen on dark images, The good news is that this can be turned off but if you get a bad panel you will see light bleed across the screen when watching in a dark room, i returned 2 before i got a good one.
This or this from currys with 5 year guarantees?

thank you for your input. my wait continues for.....
I'm in two minds between this and the larger 55" Philips PUS6401. It has a 10bit panel too, and also Ambilight and Android TV [which is a nice system to use]. I saw both in store yesterday and I couldn't chose between the two! I had a LG 2012 FullHD 3D TV and couldn't fault it.

Reviews say the blacks on the Philips are rather poor [all TVs at this price range suffer from this] and that the local dimming is hit and miss [again, all cheaper TVs suffer from this]. LG apparently suffers from poor upscaling. Choosing a TV in 2017 is needlessly difficult
aw man 2 years of researching and I still can't make the plunge and choose which 4k TV to get

This is the better TV upscalling on HD is very good, The Philips tv is a 60Hz panel and is 8 bit, The LG is 120Hz 10 bit well really its 8 bits + FRC if it was not for the local dimming system on the LG it would be a perfect tv as i cannot fault it in the price range.

The reviews for the LG all mention bad upscaling - and the Philips is 10bit, at least according to the official blurb for themselves.

HDR10 and Dolby Vision

Incorrect it is Lg's name for their pseudo HDR effect on SDR content. It's in the description above.
You are correct about Dolby Vision though.
well all i can say is the picture quality is amazing on HD running through the inbuilt sat much better than the Higher end Samsung KS7000 i also own, The Philips also is only 350 nits so not a very bright panel HDR will be pointless on this tv. At the end of the day the choice is yours.

You can order online for collection in store but you have to use the FastTrack facility so that you can enter the code as part of the checkout/payment process.

I couldn't order online as for some reason it wouldn't accept my card as payment. I showed them the discount code in store but it wouldn't register on their system. Eventually the Manageress just rang it through as 10% off. Great TV as well.
