So you are impressed with a TV that you haven't got yet

I picked it up from Solihull shop this afternoon. Why are people so cynical? I'm only trying to help others out as I have been looking for a good branded 50" (ish) 4K tv, less than £400 for about a month. I wanted the 5 year warranty as well - hence JL.
More LG RGBW shenanigans, so be warned. You’re not getting proper 4K here folks, more like 3K.

This should be in deals. You've posted it in freebies.
do you get five year warranty?
extra 50pounds gets you 6 year warranty: richersounds.com/lg-…tml
Maybe they can price match?

They said they only price match if there is a comparable guarantee, so seems unlikely but I haven't tried yet
Thanks!
Where does it say "FreeSat HD"? I see nothing at both Richersounds and RGBdirect
Think this is the one I got for my mum for 249 a few months back from Amazon. Pretty good telly for this price, hot

How as JL don't seem to sell this TV ?
Specifications seem to be exactly the same as of 49UJ635V at JL.
I am not sure how price match works with JL, but online ~£6 can be saved via Zeek

That said, I am still confused about Freesat. Al specifications say 1 tuner.
if you go on the LG website and put in Freesat - this TV is listed along iwth others . So I think it is FReesat but may be worth contacting LG

I typed in "John Lewis Price match" on google and submitted a form. They e-mailed me back to confirm they would match price. I think I forgot to cite the exact model number on the form though . I sent a link to RGB offer and cited the JL Product code. Worked for me and very impressed with the TV. £349 with 5 years warranty - even the sales guys in JL were impressed with the price match!

Voted hot but did a lot of research on these tvs and RGBW panels today which seem sub par to full UHD 4k
So buy wisely
I have been buying my TV sets from JL for the last 20 years & have had numerous price matches either accepted or declined. I have never ever had a price match accepted without giving the exact model number on a like for like basis & you are either very very lucky that they accepted it or very very lucky in that someone has missed the point of the exact standards they place on " never knowingly undersold ".
Edited by: "PJR" 20th May
I failed to get a JL price match on a phone a couple of years ago. In their reply they said:

"In accordance with the Never Knowingly Undersold policy;

"We match prices publicly available to all customers, based on those displayed in a shop, on the high street competitor's own website, or the first price quoted to us over the phone. The price has to apply to an identical individual product in terms of make, model, size or colour. We don't match prices only available via 3rd party websites, or with voucher codes.”

Therefore, we cannot accept the price match as our policy defines we cannot match, "voucher codes."

This includes the voucher code of "TDX-WYMJ" that will reduce the first quoted price from £189.00 to £169.00, which you enter into the checkout upon purchase. Therefore, the original purchase price - the first price quoted, is the price we match, not the price after discount.
"
Anyone got a recommended settings for the picture on this TV?

Got it a few weeks ago (for £300 from a deal on here), but I cannot get a picture setting that seems naturally. Standard settings are either too "cream instead of white" or way too vivid.

I believe you mate
Better spend £50 more for real 4K tv like 50" Panasonic EX700...
Got this for £379 last July from amazon. Its an ok TV for the money, smart features are good and easy to use but the build quality is pretty poor and you wouldn't call it a looker

Agree with both of these comments, for the price it's okay if you're strapped for cash but the actual panel to me seems pretty bad. For the life of me I cannot get it to show a decent looking picture and mine seems to have some some of ghosting issue which my cheaper LG 42LB5500 didn't have at all.

I'll be returning mine back to Richer Sounds within the 14 days.
I’ve got the 43inch 635 model. From my 10+ yr old flat panel it is a massive improvement and am v happy with the purchase. Even the smart tv functions have impressed me, web os seems to be one of the better os’s.
Afaik the only difference between 630 & 635 is the stand.

For this money, I’d say it’s definitely worth it

£400? For the Panasonic? Also what is the other panel called this is rgbw?
displayspecifications.com/en/…b56

Says the RGBW structure is 2880 x 960. So it is 3K, not 4K.

A budget set!
Edited by: "LadyEleanor" 20th May
A few people pointing out the RGBW. No, it's not "true" 4K but most people sit far enough from the TV that it will barely be noticeable anyway. It's recommended that you sit within 4ft of the TV to see the benefit of 4K at this size. If you sit closer to 8ft away you would struggle to see the difference between 1080p and 4K let alone "3K" and 4K.
Buy 1080p then!

Saying that, why not go the whoke hog and buy 720p?

There's no cost benefit in buying 1080p anymore. The main selling point of this TV is the size for the price, the fast and intuitive Web OS system, the very low input lag and the IPS panel for bright environments and for wide viewing angles. Resolution is not *that* important.
