**** Fab John Lewis Price Matching***LG TV bought this at John Lewis for £649 in store with 5 year warranty and I have to say great service as I have returned a few things or exchanged in the past. They match Marks Electrical offer HERE and just refunded me £100 in store, even though it was not an online purchase. They also match Sonic. They also refunded me £100 on a Samsung S 8 with Box.co.uk. Worth looking into if you want the safety net of good service from a big retailer. In fact had two price matches done on the same item as price jeeps coming down !

Can anyone recommend a good 55” tv around similar price

Richer Sounds are selling the LG 55UJ630V for £569 on a weekly deal. The audio won't be as good as the higher numbered models and the magic remote might be included with the higher numbered model. But, it's in your price range.

Just had mine delivered and it is spot on. Better than the similar Samsung 6400 and Panasonic 700 model which was terrible. And the smart features are the best of the three.

Can get 55” for less through CO-op if you are a member.

That's LG's most rubbish tv ever! Bought the same model with a 43" screen from Richer Sounds & returned it after 3 weeks. Viewing angles were rubbish unless you were sat right in front & in line & it was quite dark & dull. Lost 15% on that, as Richer Sounds said that though tv was being returned within 28 days, they had a policy of charging customers 15%, which I thought was very unfair, as it wasn't not my fault the tv was rubbish, they shouldn't sell such sub-par stuff & then charge us customers for a genuine reason to return such tosh. Still glad I returned it & now waiting for a decent deal on Black Friday.

I would gladly buy stuff from John Lewis, they would've taken that tv back had I purchased it from them, unlike RS.

Thanks OP! Got it price matched no problem and ordered - great deal for this tv from JL

Just to reiterate what I said on another similar post:

After much mulling over, I picked up the LG 55UJ750 about a month ago. Aware of the 'fake 4k' issue that the AV specialists crow about, but I've found it extremely good and the LG interface is especially sweet.

People complain about the 'trumotion' motion processing, but I've never been keen on this - makes it too home video-ey - so the general recommendation seems to be to turn this off anyway.

You have the alternative option of either (a) paying more for a 'true 4k' picture, which may be slightly sharper than this, or (b) pay around the same for a lesser brand with slightly better picture but worse interface and user facilities (Hisense)....horses for courses.

My only gripe is that I've struggled to find any perfect picture settings out there - if anyone finds a decent forum then let me know.

PS - the picture on 4k HDR, based on a few examples on Youtube, is awesome.

How would this compare with the LG 49SJ810V - am I being a bit thick to think that an SJ is not as good as a UJ because U comes after S in the alphabet?

I've watched a few youtube video reviews of these LG TV's and lots of them seem to be free TV's sent out by some company called AO free to people to review - they either say so in the videos or it is mentioned in the comments.

Makes me think twice about whether I am being manipulated into thinking something is brilliant when it actually is a sales pitch?

I believe the UJ is for the Lower Spec Ultra HD range and the SJ is for the higher spec Super UHD Range
