shows how much you understand.
i bet you couldnt even tell the difference.

its perfectly fine for Sky/cable/freeview and indeed Sky HD/Virgin HD/freeview/sat HD too.
I'd rather have a good 50" plasma at 720p than a crappy LCD with colour bleed, bad black levels and backlighting problems at 1080p.

For SD I would agree, or compared to a crappy LCD. However for Full HD or PC use a decent Full HD or LCD is much better.

A lot depends on viewing distance, sit sufficiently far away and this would be fine, but for closer 'immersive' viewing I would want Full HD on a set this size.

I'm not knocking plasma, just lo-res on a large panel. I do have experience of both.

its still not really a low res, maybe for a PC monitor is might be and certainly I moved from a 32" 720p to a 37" 1080p set for that exact reason.

having recently seen the likes of Avatar on bluray played on a panasonic 720p plasma and a 1080p LCD of the same size (42" in this case), the plasma was a more pleasureable viewing experience.

but yes agreed if you are going to use it as a monitor, you may want that higher res, depending on your eyesight!
