I reckon, before long, full HD tv`s are going to be like cathode ray ones--- old hat. So many affordable 4K models starting to become available.,,,,
Yes, but nothing to watch in 4K.
Not until usa 4K tv stations like what happened with HD.

I can see them skipping 4k and going straight for 8k.

CRT may be old hat though they still give better picture quality than most of the TVs I see when displaying the majority of what people watch (broadcast channels). The 'progression' to 4k tvs is even less sensical as the benefit of tv size(footprint) left with CRT! 1080 displays have more benefits (over 4k) for most of us, just not the bragging rights. I'm happy to rough it out with my 18 month old 50" plasma.
How's this for pic quality in comparison to Tesco digihome which is only 199 pounds
BT Sports are already broadcasting in UHD so stop saying there's nothing to watch (not to mention Netflix, YouTube and home-made videos as 4k/UHD camera's are aplenty). UHD Blu-rays coming out next year as well.
No 4K tv stations, nothing to watch.

No 4K tv stations.
BT Sports not for everyone and sub.
Netflix if you sub.
excellent tv, I purchased back in about September when it was briefly on offer at this price. and yes, there are 2 hdmi ports.
would definitely recommend!
20 yrz experience on AV

Its an IPS panel and its lg. buy Chromecast, has 2 hdmi..yes splitters can work or just get a hdmi amp, a cheap one will have 4 hdmi if not, then splitter yes.
Lg are responsible for most other tv panels so they are up there with the best. dont sit too close, at least 7 foot away possibly 6 for this price, its great
Buying a 4k TV today is falling into the megapixel trap - without other improvements not yet rolled out such as higher frame rate, greater dynamic range or larger range of colours they're largely pointless.
Good price good tv so will be voting hot but only 1 hdmi? not good enough in this day and age
this or the philipps one I reserved last night from Argos ???? please advise I need to pick up tomorrow XXX merry Xmas hukders

Do enlighten me.
Not the best TV really, but is a very good price and a reasonable buy. If it interesting you and your needing more USB/HDMI ports, an extension port/adapter won't break the bank!

Better picture, increased viewable distances and the fact that the priority of TV manfacturers and networks is 4K content. To state the stupidly obvious. HDR is already in 4K TVs that are in production.
Shameless link to my own post here but if you would prefer on the set more HDMI's and USB's not to mention better picture quality and built in smart features, this one is £399hotukdeals.com/dea…251

More pixels doesn't always mean better picture quality. In fact, in this price range you can bet that a £330 1080p will have better overall picture quality than a similar priced 4k set. Personally, its still too early for me.

To state the stupidly obvious, the priority of networks is 4K content? There's certainly something stupid there...
Maybe once we get some 1080p media from the networks we can assume 4K will follow (you can, I'm not buying 4K for 5+ years).
I do agree with you regarding 4K being a priority for tv manufacturers, they're desperate to shift product to anyone gullible enough to buy into it(I'm not suggesting that everyone that buys 4K is gullible, only 90%).:)
Would this set be any good for gaming on an XB1 ?

I am buying it to use with an Xbox One. Maybe not for real competitive gaming but casual I am sure it would be good.

If you have 4K content, admitedly there isn't much of it the screen size or distance would have to be pretty great to notice the difference, However. If 3D is your thing, a 4K passive 3D set increases the clarity as the nature of passive 3D interlaces the picture. If you want PASSIVE 3D then you have to have 4K to enjoy it at its fullest.

Then people will say, who watches or cares for 3D. I do and i bet anyone who has seen the cod from Imax under the sea would be converted too lol.

4K is in its early days but prices are getting around 1080p levels, so why not. This TV is a great deal for anyone not interested in 3D or LGs new colourprime technology.

"Better picture"? The only difference is twice as many pixels in each direction Higher resolution. Only useful if the viewing distance is small enough.

"increased viewable distances"? You sound confused. Benefits only if you're closer to the screen, not further away.

"the priority of TV manfacturers and networks is 4K content."? TV manufacturers, sure, because it costs them peanuts and a fool and his money are easily parted. What "networks"? (It's a small k by the way.)

"HDR is already in 4K TVs that are in production."? No it isn't. Most panels are not capable of displaying it, and the standards for its transmission have not been defined yet.

Also you've ignored my points about colour space and frame rate. Frame rate is a particularly basic failing when you only increase the resolution, because the relative deterioration in the picture when there is motion is correspondingly greater. The effect of everything turning to mush as soon as it moves can be so extreme with 4k at standard frame rates that it can make people feel ill (as can 3D, but that's another story ).

Let us know the verdict
Well I'd say ps4 has a 2-3 second lag and initial on start up (not sure if this is the ps4 or tv) but after that's it's awesome, no lag, sharp, perfect in my room!

Tested with fifa 16 and rocket league! Chuffed

Bought it. It's fantastic. Instore I was quizzed for 20 mins by the salesman why I wanted the tv to him saying I should get the one that's on offer at £499. Terrible service but a great tv. Enjoy.

Don't believe LG when they say it has an IPS panel. My tv is still being advertised as having LG's "Unique IPS Panel. Although the tv is discontinued it is still on the LG UK website. It does NOT have an IPS panel. It has a VA panel made by AU Optronics according to the product code. The pixel panel also confirms that it is not an IPS. A mistake or deliberate mis-representation and when I pointed out to Currys they had mis-sold me a tv they didn't want to know.
