I have this tv purchased from Currys January 2015 for £499.99. It's a good tv and the best you can buy for a 50" at this price. Don't waste your £300 on a 50" Polaroid from Asda. Put it towards this. You won't regret it. There is stiff competition thought from the Sony 829 currently on offer at tesco for £579 less £20 voucher.

you can also get an extra £30 off with o2 priority,

tried to buy this in my local curry's about an hour ago but at this price the salesman said its only the display models to clear rather than any stock.

It is available for home delivery. They have stock in my home town also. Seeing as they were selling this tv for £499.00 just after christmas and £549.00 during January, to sell a display model at £498.97 would be ripping you off. I like the tv but seeing as Tesco are selling a Sony 50" at £559.00 using online code TDX-HGRP the Sony is a far better buy for nearly the same money.

Looks like others agree seeing as the Sony is quite a bit warmer than the LG. The LG has a nicer stand though and has PVR function which is useful. Not sure if the Sony has that.

Agree it was a rip off smartguy, saw quite a few folk asking about models and being told it was the display model only after we started loking at other models!

I bought the exact tv you mention from Tesco using the code following another post on here yesterday evening!

Sony looks good for the money. My son has a sony bluray and I would say the Sony apps are better than LG's. I love my tv but if I was buying today I think the Sony would be the one to go for. Sony is active 3d, not passive. Not sure which is better as I can't see 3d anyway it's of no difference to me.
