LG 50PB690V 3d 1080p Wifi Smart 50" Plasma £449 @ Markselectrical

Found 26th Dec 2014Made hot 28th Dec 2014
I ordered this myself using code listed on page to bring it down from £499 to £449. Cheapest elsewhere is £619

I saw the 60 inch version in the flesh in Currys today and even though it has mixed reviews and not up to the panasonic plasmas quality, not many around now.

The picture in currys was really natural next to the led backlit ones though not as bright.

One downside it does not include any 3d glasses but I got 4 pairs of samsung active ones today for £43 in currys after reading that they work fine with this LG.

I'm pretty sure tesco is doing it cheaper or was! And is this company any good, their web looks a bit of a scam. Cold cold cold. Looks like a marketing scam.

They have a medium sized shop on the A47 in Leicester. Company seems genuine. Scammers tend not to put telephone numbers and address on their websites.

Yeah it is a bit mean but i only have sky and bluray player as i am not a gamer.

Not bothered if its cold or not just wanted to help someone who still appreciates a plasma tv. I do have a 55 LG 55LB730v at the moment which is going back to John lewis tueday as the backlighting is terrible.

Decisions decisions:(

I know it's a good price and looking for a 50" to replace my large bezel 47" LG but 2 hdmi's isn't enough for me. Heat given though.

the 50PB5600 i found on here for £129 only had one HDMI connection and that wasn't even a base model. Tis silly not having at least three HDMI connections now minimum. It might be a ploy to get consumers to buy the next model up but a £5 HDMI switch box does the trick.

The TV has 3 HDMI ports. Two on the rear and one on the side panel.

It only states 2 so did not know that. As I say its coming this Sunday which I was shocked to see they could deliver so soon and on a weekend for free. You can also choose a date that suits all online when buying.

They're a Google certified shop and an official sponsor of Leicester City football team (my team )

Does that sound like a scam company to you?

Yep, it's a cracking deal and the cheapest that this model has been. It's often confused with the 50PB660V (which has been around this price) but lacks 3D and the built-in Wi-Fi. This wouldn't have been my first choice, but unfortunately LG are the only manufacturer left selling Plasma's and I personally can't tolerate LED/LCD TV's.

Yeah I would have gone for a sammy or a panny if they still made them but this will still look better than most LEd back lit ones. The one thats going back I have had since last friday and at just under 900 quid its not nice at all. So this at half the price will suffice till oled ones come mainstream. I did consider getting it from John Lewis for the 5 yr warranty but its £639 there.

I thought Leicester main sponsor was a guy with big ears and eats a lot of walkers crisp. My bad again

No delivery to Scotland

Can get a great pic with a fiddle of the settings. Avoid in a room where it will reflect windows in the day etc.

I was tempted to buy this but plasma sets are becoming rare now, like they are being phased out. I am also concerned over their reliability long term, i.e. after 12 months and also never liked the fact you are not supposed to lay them down. That could be interesting in fitting the stand. However, my living room is south facing and gets the sun all day so think I will stay away and wait for an LED 50" to come down in price.

Everybody that buys a large plasma screen tv lays them down to put them in the car,
And you can get them re-gassed cheaply should any escape on the way home.

Mine came this morning at 8.20am in one of there own marked up vans. Can't fault the service to be delivered between Christmas and new year on a Sunday too.

I am impressed with natural picture it produces compared to the led backlit I am sending back. Just need to tweak it for best picture now.

Great tv i bought the model down, has 3 hdmi. Very happy. Main reason i bought was the plasma screen are stronger with kids throwing toys at it.

Has it improved with hours used? I have done a lot of tweaking and picture is pretty good. whites could be whiter and overall brighter but I think it looks dark due to just having an led backlit which was over bright. 3D id dark too so have to set tv brighter.

That's a very old post (2002) and had a bit of a shock when 'tiny' were mentioned. I thought they had come back to haunt us. Only time I ever felt like punching a salesman was in their shop trying to return a 1 day old printer that didn't work!!

Interesting reading on the plasma and re-gassing. I also thought they were sealed too but have heard reports that you are not supposed to lay them flat. Interesting lifespan though. I wonder if anyone has still got any plasma screen tv's from early 2000 that are still going strong.

I was tempted with this deal as I liked the concept of plasma tv's being able to deal with action better or more efficiently than lcd/led but put off by the glass screen and that they prefer to be in a dark room. In the end I bought today the LG50LB650 from Currys. Not unpacked it yet as I am still not sure if I should have gone for a 55". It's replacing an older LG LCD 47" whilst although the new tv has a larger screen, overall the tv is smaller due to the smaller bezel. The 55" set is same height as my present tv but would have been 4" wider and question if it would like right or not. The 50" is exactly same width as my present tv but a good 2" shorter so hope it's ok. I could always put it on a 2" stand lol.

Oh I don't know, plasmas are old tech now, it's hard to find a repair shop with the right re-gassing adapter sometimes these days. The last time mine needed re-gassing the guy had every adapter but the LG one, I had to try 5 shops and even then I had to wait for LG gas to be ordered in. The TV still isn't as bright as it was I'm sure, I think he might have charged the full amount but only put half the gas in.

Ordered from these guys few months back without a issue and called to confirm delivery which is nice.

I'm still rocking a plasma from 2006, don't know what to replace it with. This looks good, heat added.

Should p&p not be included @ £30?

Sorry mate think you've been scammed. There is no re-gassing. The unit is completely sealed.

code not working. DEC14 code gives 5% off making it £474.99
