LOTS of info on this TV at
avforums.com/for…tml

Bought one about a month ago for 670 ish, pretty pleased with TV though screen is very reflective so probably not a good idea in a bright room.

Seems like a great price for a 50" with freeview HD

At this price you will NOT regret buying this tv!! Got mine from dixons months back for £800, best purchase ive ever made, would recommend to anyone.

is this the TV that is THX Certified

I actually bought one of these over 2 weeks ago from amazon (£699) but had to return as it was damaged on delivery.

Id seen the cnet review before and have just read the later hdtest review above dated the 24th of this month...The gaming issue worries me though as i do alot of gaming.

For those of you with the Tv could you comment on gaming on this set?..do you notice the lag as mentioned in the above review?

Many thanks

i've had this tv for about 6 months (£900 but paid for by comets extended warranty) & love it! although as others have said its VERY reflective!

i've got mine hooked up to my wireless router so use youtube a bit as well as streaming films from my netbook although using a usb flash drive is better so long as the file can be played.

they look like they will be bringing skype to the tv also! it'll be used in the netcast part. i'm hoping for something like the usa get as well, a movie streaming service!

just to add, its also got 8 games built in!

I GAME on mine, i have the new version of this tv (ones built june onwards i believe) and can say i don't notice any lag when i play CALL OF DUTY MW2 ONLINE. Also i have it set on orbiter and keep contrast set no higher than 60 so it doesn't suffer ir. The quality of picture its outstanding no motion blur whatsoever!

Hi all!,

I am in limbo about wether to buy this tv or the bigger LG 60PK250.

With this tv I really like the sound of the LG Netcast feature and also it has freeview hd which costs a bit on it's own.

Then there's the 60", which costs £400 more but lacks some features.....

Your advice is appreciated

Can you stretch to £1200 for the 60PK590 as it really is a cracking set and has all the features you could ever need. OK it's nearly twice the price but everyone and I mean everyone that's seen the 60" in my lounge and already owns a 50" TV always makes a point of saying they'd wished they'd spent a little more and gone for the 60" version.

Have a look at this photo to see the 50" PK590 on the lounge wall with the recently unboxed 60" PK590 just below it!

makes the 50 look tiny lol, if i had the room and money i would have got the 60.

the 50" is tiny compared to the 60", I think people think "oh it's only 10" bigger" but you get a hell of a lot more viewable screen for the price. The 50" is nice for the bedroom though

i posted in the other thread but i did buy mine from dixons and i got it on monday, which surprised me as its bank holiday. i got it with quidco so in the end i paid £629.53, ordered it on friday morning and got it monday so well pleased with the shipping time, especially with not paying extra for next day which this was as not inc sat/sun.

i brought it for parents and set it up with their old old sky box and got freeview/hd going to it and bbc hd, itv hd and ch4 hd (all 1080i) look great and im surprised even the sd looks good, i was expecting it to look bad as its 50" 1080 with viewing distance of say 8ft i think. im well impressed with the colors compared to my 46w5500, but really need to hook up pch to see how both tvs handle the same picture. but i did pay almost twice as much last year and mince is lcd...its excellent with my 360.

iv left it on thx cinema mode for now for any run in (dont think you really need to tho) it does have more reflection than say my uncles G10 but that tv was 1100 new so cant really compare. but like i said image looks great and when i put a bluray player there im sure it will look excellent. gonna put a popcorn hour there too so i can watch when i want.

things i didnt know the tv had
built in games
tv guide shows bar of how much program has left to go
smart looking interface
2 usb (not tried yet)
record memo for a vcr (lol it actually says make sure your vcr is set)
2 isf custom settings
thing called clear voice (need to find out what these 12 things are)

thats all i could see before i stopped tinkering with it.

as for IR, i dont know so i left it on orbiter for parents as i doubt they will notice the frame shift every 2 min. i know they keep the radio stations on for like 1-2 hours in the morning for prayers. leaving on orbiter is ok right?

now just need to jump on to avf and reiterate what i said here.

cheers
Sol

+Heat, but really was mentioned in other thread as to fact that other sellers selling at 649 too.

Nice telly and a very tempting price but I just bought the LG 42LD450 for £300 so I can't really complain.

vimeo00 where did you buy this set for £300?

Thanks a mill for that picture, WOW!

Where did you buy the 60" from for £1200?

Ordered mine on Saturday from Richer Sounds and got a five year warranty for £65 which I thought was better than the £6.99 a month for the warranty at another high street retailer

Thats cheating, the 50 is futher away from the camera!

I am trying to make the same decision between the 60 and 50 but I can buy almost 2 50's (not that I would) for not much more than 1 60, do I really need the extra 7 inches at the top and side of the screen, argh!

There were discount codes for Dixons that made it nearer this price.

Also my brother got his from the 'Very' catalogue as they were offering a big discount promotion a few months back on 1st orders any also 'buy now pay next year' too.

Hope this helps

I would ask that question in the "comments" part of the review as David Mackenzie (the reviewer) will no doubt take the time to give you an honest answer.(_;)

You do know that one of the USB's will play media files - ok it is not the greatest and most developed feature ... but it is handy for somebody not wanting to splash extra cash on a standalone unit like the popcorn hour.

I was about to pay 800 in curries but They didn't accept my card so ordered this online instead. Will get it on sat.
Oh n btw you can finance it from currys for 6 months 0% interest which was good for me but there is a lengthy process and mine failed.
£25 settling fee at the end though.
