Motion Rate 600 Hz
Contrast 3,000,000:1
Resolution 1920 x 1080

4 HDMI, SCART, WiFi, SVGA Input for PC Connection, Component Video Input, Composite Video Input (shared with Component Video Input), 2 USB 2.0 ports

Dimensions 1168 x 758 x 297 mm (WxHxD)

I'm quite naive with these things now.... Is plasma ok? Is led better??

Can any one find stock near London?

Original Poster

There's big arguments between Plasma, LCD and the new LED.

I dont particularly like the new LED TVs, I swear they hurt my eyes quicker than normal 1080ps, but I cant seem to find any proof of this online.

But its a fact that plasma TVs produce 'warmer' colours. Blacks are blacks (instead of dark/lit greys) I just really enjoyed the movie/gaming quality of my Plasma - so happily take it.

'ReGassing' a Plasma TV is an urban myth and does not exist

OP already has a dying 3D TV? Do they only last for 6 months or something?

Bought an ex-rental about a year ago off eBay... Its developed some sort of red flashy thing.

Only a tiny bit... But I can imagine its going to get worse.

Hence, going back to A) LG and B) Plasma. The dying one is Samsung and LCD

not available for home delivery and no stock!!

TV may be good, but if at all possible, avoid buying from curry's. Total incompetence means you'll be lucky to ever receive it if you opt for delivery.

They seem to be able to bill cards within 1 day but it takes over 2 weeks to process a refund.

Not voted.

Plasma was better than LCD but LED lit LCD is now considered superior tech. I think plasmas will be phased out completely within a few years. Of course it also depends on the model, a top end Panasonic plasma is going to look better than a finlux led LCD.

Don't believe anything they tell you about LCD being superior. The reason they dominate is because they are cheaper/easier to produce and manufacture. You go to any specialist forum and you'll see the people who really know what they are talking about will own plasma TV's. They have better contrasts, colours, viewing angles... the only downside is the power consumption of them.

hot 1080p.

But seriously plasma IMO is better than LED, I'm still happy with my cheap and cheerful LED for the time being but may have to invest in a projector sooner or later.

Their warranty is good when your tv goes wrong!

Isn't this exactly the same as the LG 50PM670T that gets terrible reviews? Just this one has Wi-fi built in.

Ignore this TV, John Lewis will price match Tesco on the Panasonic Viera TX-P50UT50b @ £568, plus it blows the LG clean out of the water.

I have this in my living room right now....

Good TV with great picture but after 4 months I am selling mine and getting a sammy....

Minor niggles though, firstly the remote is dreadful, if you can get past that or buy the maghic wand remote then you might be ok. The other reason was that it's not very thin compared to most modern plasma and LED tv's infact it's 3 times thicker than my last samsung 51" plasma (6900). That said for this price it does have a very nice picture and has plenty of features, infact the codec support for playing back MKV's etc is better than samsung

Those pannys have a glossy screen which acts like a mirror so if you have a window with light directing at the TV it's virtually unwatchable.

Got one just before Christmas, bloody good telly. Dropped by £30 quid now as well and I'm much happier Richer Sounds got my money that Currys/PCWorld.

The 680 from Currys just has wireless built in - which may be fine for internet browsing but would struggle streaming a decent quality HD film. Like all things wireless, it's only as good as your wireless point, run a cable or use a decent homeplug setup, we all like TP-Link here!

Oh, android app on phone is great, and getting better!

No wi-fi and less sexy stand are the only differences, but you save £30 and you get a free 5 year warranty, nice find.

Panasonic are cutting back heavy on panel production and considering stopping altogether, Lg are also consindering stopping Plasma production. It doesn't take a genius to work out Plasma is on it's last legs.

But plasma TV's are often shown to have the best pictures- why would manufacturers phase that out? And replace with what ? OLED?

Because they are cheaper to make The industry needs people to beleive that LED is better... when its not. Plasma is rich warm colours - and they are only energy grade B (instead of As and A+'s) so its not like you need a back up genny in the rumpus.

Unfortunately it was a case of ‘needs must’ as my old box TV had died after many moons of service – so needed a replacement with not many reddies in the bank.

So bought cheap.

Again, it was a matter of “Buy Cheap, Buy Twice”

Never again though.

Just certain situations require certain actions.

“Damn you purse strings!”

Panasonic are totally committed to plasma, they are releasing 16 new models this year Inc the beyond reference models.

Not sure where you are seeing terrible reviews for the 50PM670T - most reviews are decent - and mine is great!
