Actually there was one in Blackpool at about half four this afternoon. I'd already bought the Panasonic 50incher from tesco this morning.

anyone heard about 60" tv for £3** at Asda?

They had about 6/7 in Asda, Benton about 30mins ago. store was very quiet so can't imagine these being taken fast.

Resolution
1024 x 768
Display Format
720p

That's a good enough reason not to buy it right there. 50 inch tv with such a low pixel count is garbage.

Somewhat sweeping statement. Perceived pic quality / usfullness of this TV will depend on video source / viewing distance.

Why so, its all relative to a person's viewing distance, anything more than 10ft away and the difference in resolution becomes unnoticeable....

OOS

But would agree with earlier comment, if considering plasma go panasonic, there's a reason why they are continually among the top tvs year after year and enjoy them while you can as this year is the last.

Plus plasmas have far superior pictures as compared to LCD or LED equivalents, 1080p would probably only matter using blue rays where you might notice a difference

Disagree
We had 50" plasma and it was horrible to watch any dark sequence on. Became what I could only describe as "murky" or "cloudy".
Now have LED and it's 100x better!!!

Was it a Panasonic plasma' if not give it a try and see the difference! (_;)

No it was LG......
Mind you, another upside to switching from Plasma to LED is the electricity bill..... Dropped dramatically since the switch!

Not even 720p. 720p is 1280x720. Normally I don't think much of resolution, as most content is SD anyway, but 50" is a big screen for less than 720p.. Choose wisely.

Agree with the power comsumtion, plasmas always have a higher power usage than LCD which in turn uses more than LEDs - I have an old LCD which uses around 160 watts compared to a new LED I just bought which is rated at 40 watts! oO

I sat 2 meters from 1024x768 50" plasma and results were terrible.
