Great price, but wouldnt recommend plasma

thanks ordered this - heat from me, oh don't forget £10 Argos voucher

input lag for games on this tv just be aware if buying for gaming

Great price, just be aware the one biggest issue with cheap plasma s is the lack of screen filter. If you have a light room, the sun comes out, the picture disappears and the TV becomes an expensive mirror.

yes most people who dont have a clue about plasmas dont recommend them.

In the right room (ie not too bright) this is a lot of tv for the money. as other comments bit of input lag for gaming. but other thank that all looks ok.

Back on topic. good price for this TV.

Plasma display SD far better than any other panel !

Plasma is superior to LED and LCD however if you want to buy plasma only consider Panasonic, their plasma technology is years (maybe even a decade) ahead of Samsung and specially LG..they don't even come close to Panasonic..

I own a Panasonic px80 and I have to say when I purchased, I seriously looked at both the LG and Samsung, and they are not as far behind as you think, They certainly don't have the deep blacks that Panasonic Plasmas have (inherited when Pioneer sold them their tech) but they often offer better features than the Panasonic. I wouldn't buy a Samsung personally, I would buy an LG TV though, there's nothing wrong with either of these Plasma brands

just bought the 3d smart version of this TV, LG50PH660v for £579 from Richersounds.. Amazing TV i didnt know what to expect as my last TV was a 47" LED smart tv but the picture quality on the plasma is in another league to what i have ever seen before.. really happy with it, defo worth spending a little more and getting the smart/3D thrown in as well..

£10 voucher too, don't forget.

A lotta telly for the price. We have a recent LG 3D Plasma and as cheap as it was it produces and excellent picture. As said earlier on, the cheap end tellys don’t have an anti-glare filter on the screen so they are highly reflective. If you intend on using it in a room with a lot of sun light take this into account.

Plasma + lots of input lag...

Pass.

Agree about the light in the room comments.
No use in very bright rooms.

Not sure about the bright room comments. How much would too bright have to be?. My brother owns an old Pioneer 436xde and has a pretty bright room, (though the sun doesn't shine directly on the screen, which would be just plain stupid), and the display still looks as bright, clear and 'contrasty' as any LCD/LED I've seen in other homes. Maybe the Pioneer was just better under these conditions(?).

I have owned 60 and 50 inch lg plasmas for the past 2 years and am very happy. Yes during the day there is light reflection on the screen, but pic quality is far superior to lcd and led.

What nonsense. Most people wont even recognise the difference between the various brands

input lag for games on this tv just be aware if buying for gaming

I dont know anyone who would buy a plasma for gaming - mainly due to image retention...

Is there a problem with input lag on this model? Ive heard otherwise from online reviews?
HOT from me

I too have a Pioneer PDP436XDE and it copes really well with being in a brightly lit room. I think a lot of the old Pioneer plasmas had a superior screen filter that these newer, cheaper and less well made plasmas may not have. Mind you these Pioneer 436 plasmas did cost about £3-4K when they came out in 2005 and Pioneer built them like tanks and loaded them with tech a few years ahead of their time. When they stopped making plasmas in 2009 I gather a lot of their tech and engineers went to Panasonic. Just my 2 cents ....

I think image retention is not aa big deal as input lag to be honest but the picture is quite good in my opinion for watching movies or tv this will be more than adequate but for a hardcore gamer and person who games a lot I would look elsewhere

Spent many hours gaming on my 6 year old Samsung plasma and no problems with image retention. It very quickly disappears.
Don't know about input lag, but again not experienced any problem with my old Samsung.

Hot deal from me.

if this was an led tv it would be cool, cheaper elec haha yep I'm a mummy, we think of them important things lol but heat anyway just for the price

Before I read these comments I said to myself 'input lag and wouldn't buy a plasma' would be the standard comments.

Why do gamers think that everyone who buys a tv plays games anyway!

Hey hang on a minute Im knew to the tv watching game, I'm 100% sure PLASMA technology is the latest tv tech. IM SURE.

I wouldn't always like to be so direct, but you really don't have a clue what you're talking about in either of the posts you've made.

I have the Panasonic Panasonic TX-P50GT50B and its astonishingly good. Plasma Rules End of Story

Good price, but get an extended warranty with it.

Every LG Plasma I've had (inc my current set), has had buzzing issues (really loud, not normal plasma sounds), has had to have X & Y boards replaced TWICE (within 18 months).

12 months later & it's happening again......

Such a pointless thing to post. At least justify your opinion if you're so desperate to give it. I don't factually agree with you either. I have both and plasma is still a more accurate picture with better contrast, flesh tones, motion, colour accuracy. It just loses in power consumption.

Just goes to show that it takes very little time for garbage to get into the system and a long time to get rid of it. I don't think there's been an issue with image retention for 8-10 years or more...

Pioneer made the best plasmas ever, no debate. See how much Kuros still go for on ebay. Proper proper build quality.

Hahahaha
Coming from someone who just bought a TXP50ST60b; you don't know what you're talking about.

All this about Panasonic's currently making the best Plasma's is tosh, its just brand brainwashing and Korean brand's are now vastly superior in quality, technology and design (the UI and bezel designs on Panny's look like they fell out of the 90's). Plus Panasonic have pulled the plug on plasma production due to heavy losses, so obviously not so brilliant.

Pioneer however genuinely did make the best Plasma's ever before the Korean brand's got a hold of the market.

I have this LG's predecessor, its properly calibrated and looks excellent. Plasma's cannot be beaten on picture quality and motion by any LCD or LED but you do have to be careful about burn in and image retention. Gaming is absolutely fine on it.

There is a difference, although they work the same way the way they are lit does have a bearing on the image quality. That's why backlit LED looks better than edge lit LED which looks better than LCD which is cathode lit.

We have 3 plasmas in the house used for Xbox 360 gaming, fps mainly. 1 is a 42" Samsung, a 50" LG and a 50" Panasonic and they all work fine, no noticable input lag when playing shooters.

I'm sure the fact you have an LG has nothing to do with that comment

Panasonics have by far, from all the reviews I saw before buying, been rated the best plasma brand on the market.

That Panasonic are stopping production is most likely due to sustained ignorance of the technology, unable to fight off the sustained incorrect beliefs as demonstrated in this thread.

As a result, it saddens me a little to think that when my 42" bites the dust, I'll have to go LCD.
