I think perhaps people are voting it down because it's not full HD. 720p would look a little blocky on a 50" screen I should think (although that's just a guess).

it doesnt.
we have them playing HD sources in our store all day every day.

Does anyone buy non-1080p any more? Much better available for around this price.

yep, every day.
not everyone wants a blu ray or PS3

not everyone wants to pay each month for sky HD.
and since standard def cable/sky/freeview isnt in anywhere near 1080p, whats the point?

and since the shops don't sell anything other than LCD/LED/Plasma screens anymore, people are limited to HD ready and full HD sets.
