Webos is awful, I really miss my bravia with android.

Personal preference..... in May 2018 Techradar reviews of tv OS systems the LG Webos scores 1st place. It always seems to be praised in reviews as well.
Personally I do have Webos but don't honestly feel one way or the other towards it. It's easy to use and nice so thumbs up from me. To say it's awful though might be a little unfair for someone considering a purchase of this tv.

Yeah it's hard to go back too other brands software after using a Sony or Philips Android TV. One thing I will say about webos is it's pretty easy to use and at least alot of the sets work BBC iPlayer 4k for the world cup, android TV wont be getting it so that's one thing lg have over the 2016/17 Sony models.
I'm actually returning a 2017 Sony because of the android TV system. Too much hassle to optimise the system, disabling services, switch to Dev mode to limit concurrent processes etc just to make it bearable. Android is a wonderful system, but not worth for the slowness, I just want to watch TV after a day of battling with computers elsewhere would get a shield to power whatever TV I'm getting though.

I heard good thing about LG WEBOS, least it's responsive! Now if there is a TV with ambilight, webos (or another fast system), sony's design... Then I'm all for it!

I find that streaming from my phone is nowhere near as easy. Previously open website, find video and stream. Can't do it with this one, especially YouTube

Is that using the Miracast app?
Sony PR team’s out I see as usual!

You can look through my past comments I’m the first one to complain about LG’s build quality but their WebOS is second to none & it’s globally renown as that. There is no contender to it that’s even remotely close. While on the other hand Sony build quality is excellent however their Android OS is globally slated as one of the worst.

I have one of each & if they would build a Sony TV with WebOS it would be the perfect TV. If I’m honest LG really isn’t that bad so I think unless Sony ups their game with their OS then it’ll prob be another LG next for me.

Good post OP! If you’re a CO-OP staff member you can get another 5% off as well taking it down to £446.50 before the voucher deduction
On richersounds this is £475 with a 6 year warranty as they have a code on there for 5% off, so £6 more and no £50 credit, but probably worth it for the warranty. richersounds.com/lg-55uj630v.html

Indeed personal preference. I personally think WebOS is better than Tizen OS on my Samsung and infinitely better than Sony's dire Android OS so I'm not surprised it came top. WebOs is simplicity, thoughtful, intuative and fast. I almost thought about swapping my son's LG in his bedroom for my living room Samsung and well the 2 Sony's I had got returned as they were badge over substance.

No OS is best. Smart TVs are a scam to make perfectly good hardware go obsolete more quickly. Non-smart + box/stick is much better, but hard to source these days
