Seen this advertised in the past at nearer a grand, but this looks like a cracking deal to me for the spec and price.

Cracking deal, but remember a surcharge of 5% (+VAT at the standard rate) will be added to total purchases made by
non-Costco UK members and non costco.co.uk online subscribers.

would john lewis pricematch ?

The tv alone is £899 at currys:(

I think the currys one is a slightly higher spec, comes with the magic remote, but this is defo a better deal.

Very tempted, can I pick it up from my local warehouse... Can't wait for delivery ;-)

I have this TV and I'd highly recommend it. Even if it is a bit too big for my room.

Really looking for a deal on a LG 60 inch but struggling to find any decent reductions, any pointers will be greatly appreciated tried all the usual J Lewis, Richer Sounds, Currys, Sonic Direct RGB etc

is it active or passive 3D?

Got the 47" version of this last week at Richer sounds for £600 (£549.95 now). Talked them into throwing in 5 year warranty for free because I told them John Lewis would price match.
Really happy with it. Picture was dog bab at first but after a bit of changing settings it's good

Passive

Great deal, and am a bit peeved off as its 40mm too wide to fit in the gap the 50inch one I have fits into

Only way would be to have it sitting proud of the recess, plus I would need to sell my active 3d 50 inch one

great deal... I have an LG 42" 3D tv and lg 3D blu-ray and its fantastic... get avatar 3D its amazing .. also some good things on sky 3D but some aren't to good...

i have the 47 inch of this its a great tv but they all suffer from dirty screen effect which can be seen on a light back ground, other than this its a great tv with great smart features.

Well I've asked john lewis to price match, if that happens then I'm sold.

Yes the 3D is a bit of a gimmick, particularly for me, but still it's nice to have, and unlike many other offers I've seen lately at least it's got 4 pair of glasses and a blu ray player which is a must for me

I'm over the moon that finally I've put a deal on that's got a decent reception. I have to say this was going to be last deal I posted as in the past most other deals I've posted have been shot down with no or little input to why, so thanks for the positive comments.

Rob

Wow that is a lot of tv for the money. I think it's a great deal if you have a room big enough to take it.

John Lewis will not price match Costco as its classed as trade.

buy it whilst you can people

This set got a Which? Best Buy award:

Pros: Great picture quality, good features, plenty of connections
Cons: Sound could be better, limiting remote control, smart TV tricky to get around

Heat added from me

Its lg. No good.

The main reason I shop at Costco is because of their 'no-quibble guarantee'. Recently returned an item that I"d lost the receipt for and they gave me a 100% refund on that too (my membership had expired but they opened me a new one and credited the returned item to that!).
I now buy from Costco with absolute confidence and return items for a full refund without worrying if the return will be accepted.
Just saying.

I picked up the 47" version about 4 months ago, great TV. The in-built speakers ain't great and provide near zero bass output, but getting a cheap pair of 2.1 PC speakers plugged into 3.5mm output works perfectly for me and sound a lot better.

The SmartTV functions are nice, Netflix works well (but without Profiles support!) and the iPlayer interface is dog slow, but i've probably been spoilt by using it the PS4. the DLNA client works perfectly with Plex and Mediatomb without much hassle.

The Bluray player is OK, it has Smart features built in as well which are a replication of what the TV does, just slower. You can't fault it for playing actual discs, its quick and does the job.

How is this copmared to the 50 inch version Costco have ?

I realise it is exactly the same price and a 5 inch smaller set, but the 55 inch wont fit without reconstruction work

Original Poster

Thanks for the honest comments.

I've taken the plunge and bought one anyway

We are not huge techno geeks in our house, but we do like luxurys. So as long as it does what it says on the tin I'm happy.

I'd be interested to know what the game play is like on it though, should I nice my PS into the same room hmmmm

Have you to fit in a recess?

If only this was 60 inch

RobDay

Have you to fit in a recess?

I have a 50 inch LG TV at the moment, we had a false chimney breast built with a big recess to fit the TV in, the recess has a 10mm gap all the way around the TV, the size of the 55 inch TV here will fit height wise but not width ways not without widening the recess, or it would have to sit proud

So the option would be to purchase the 50 inch version of this TV so I know it will fit in the recess perfectly

Bit more than I wanted to pay, but the 5yr warranty is a deal-breaker for me. I figure based on Richer Sounds adding 10% for 5yr warranty that this makes the cost approx £725 with a bluray that I can probably flog on eBay...

Have some heat!

does anyone know if this has arc technology?

Thanks RobDay for the post. I did not have any plan to buy a TV until I saw your post. Just ordered one.

After seeing your post I did a bit of online research. Overall this TV has good reviews - there are some references to dirty screen effect and colour bleeding/fading near edges. Hope the one I ordered will be good!

You don't need to pay 5% surcharge (I am a non-member), but there is an option during the checkout in that you can agree to pay £15 as annual on-line subscription (I paid it). There were some panic moments as the stock sold out after I put one in my basket, fortunately came again after nearly half an hour.

The deal looks the cheapest - the TV is worth about £850 argos.co.uk/sta…htm and the Bluray player is worth £80. Added to this 5 year warranty and free delivery.

Again thanks to RobDay!

Damn I'm torn, went in store to get this deal, but it's online only, then saw a 60" sharp (non 3D) for £719. Now I don't know what to go for..

OOS now :'(

OOS now :'(

gutted to have missed out in this.

KOGONAI

gutted to have missed out in this.

Me too!!

only out of stock for a little while they have updated the page
"Due to high demand, this item is currently out of stock but more stock will be available in January 2014" (_;)

Sorry but where does it mention the 5 year guarantee, or does it come as standard with all Costco TV's? Cracking deal - Hot!

i cannot see this coming back with the same offer

Original Poster

The TV can be had for £850 elsewhere I think, but you'll need to pay for the delivery. Plus it won't come with the blueray player.

This still us the best deal I have found, and I believe that it will be back in stock in the new year.

Rob

It is back again! http://i44.tinypic.com/o03z3m.png
