Top quality picture and sound come together to make the LG 55SJ850V a true premium TV.

Always the best picture in the house, with LG's Nano Cell technology
LG's Nano Cell technology uses tiny particles to reproduce a more accurate picture. The technology offers a wider viewing angle, giving everyone in the room the best possible picture quality. Nano Cell tech also aims to reduce on-screen light glow, improving the picture quality even in brightly lit rooms.

The widest range of HDR support yet with Active HDR
Taking HDR beyond any of its rivals, the LG 55SJ850V is the most flexible HDR-equipped TV to date. Advanced HDR by Technicolor offers reference levels of image and colour accuracy. As well as Advanced HDR, this 55" LG TV also offers decoding for HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. HDR10 is widely used on UHD gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft. HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma HDR) is a broadcast and user generated standard format that is set to become the standard for transmitting 4K signals.

Dolby Vision for dramatic imaging
Dolby Vision optimises the HDR format to give quite simply the sharpest, most accurate images possible. Dolby vision-equipped TVs, like this LG, can decode both generic HDR content and content that's specifically been encoded in Dolby Vision - a leading format in Hollywood and cinemas. Dolby Vision also adjusts the picture to take full advantage of each display's characteristics and presents an optimized picture for each scene in specially mastered content.

Premium sound by Harmon Kardon
Developed in conjunction with AV and Hi-Fi experts Harman Kardon, this 55 inch TV's audio system offers a step-up from the average 'thin' flatscreen TV sound. With built-in subwoofers and a powerful 40 watt amp, the 55SJ850 punches harder the typical flat panel TV.

webOS 3.5 - the critics' choice
Widely acclaimed as one of the best smart TV interfaces, LG's webOS 3.5 operating system is more refined than ever. Updates to the hardware means that webOS is 40% faster than before, making using it a seamless experience. WebOS 3.5 uses superimposed icons, folders and side bars for clear and easy access to smart content without leaving the current screen image. New features for webOS 3.5 include 'Magic Link', 'Magic Sound Tuning' and 360-degress video.

Magic made better
Following on from previous 'Magic' technology, webOS 3.5 now has the ability to record 'Magic Zoom', letting you record to USB highlighted sections of the screen. 'Magic Link' gives additional information, such as the actors in the scene and related YouTube videos. 'Magic Sound Tuning' uses a microphone built into the remote to optimise the TV's sound, according to your room's acoustics.

See the bigger picture with 360-degrees video
Now you can see the bigger picture with 360-degrees video. When watching suitable video, this feature lets you use the remote to track 360-degrees from left to right. It also allows you to 'look' up and down and even zoom in and out. Simply put, it's the closest thing yet to actually being there!

Freeview Play for catch-up TV
Freeview Play makes catch-up TV easy. Find programmes from BBC iPlayer, the ITV Hub, All4 and Demand 5 sitting alongside over 60TV Channels and up to 15 HD channels. Simply scroll back in your TV guide to watch shows you missed from the last 7 days. Just make sure your TV is connected to the internet and you're good to go.

Smart TV that includes all your favourite apps
The LG 55SJ850V comes packed with useful apps that look great on the big screen. The BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Now TV, Demand 5 and Netflix are just some of the VOD (Video On Demand) services that come as standard with the LG. There's also easy access to music sites like Spotify and Napster plus social sites Facebook and Twitter.

DLNA and Wi-Fi make this TV part of your home network
DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compatibility means the 55SJ850V will seamlessly blend with your home network. With DLNA you can stream music or video from your laptop, PC or NAS drive. Thanks to built-in Wi-Fi, even connecting up is a breeze.

Let everyone enjoy the best seat in the house, with the Nano Cell technology of the LG 55SJ850V.

There was another thread for this TV earlier in the week and LG replied to a customer and guaranteed it was 10bit

It is 10 bit here are the full specs for the lg super uhd (SJ) models and as you can see only the lg55sj810v is 8 bit + frc
the other 3 models are 10 bit displayspecifications.com/en/…333

Dont take that site for gospel, I was looking at the 49SJ800v before and emailed LG to confirm if true 10bit and they replied:

"Thank you for your query regarding your LG TV; I would be more than happy to assist you with this query today.

We have it listed as a 8bit+FCR panel. However we have recently noticed a decent number of reviewers and external technical websites stating this is a true 10 bit panel. This is a mistake on their end. This should be an 8+2 FCR panel."

Richer sounds had it listed as 8+fcr too, and they do this one so wouldn't surprise me if same.

I've been told by an LG representative that only their oled range in Europe have 10 bit panels.

They are very sneaky with specs online. From what I found out the display specs info is for the US version.

It doesn't matter whether it's 8-bit or 10-bit as tests show no difference at current colour gamuts. Maybe once we get towards Rec. 2020 dithering won't be sufficient to prevent banding but right now it's more than good enough.

If you're after something that reproduces the 10-bit HDR range then the limitation is the LCD panel's contrast, not it's bit depth. You'll only ever reproduce 8-9 bits of the HDR range using an LCD matrix alone however much you increase it's bit depth.

In an LCD TV you need a great local dimming system and a very wide colour gamut to reproduce 10-bit HDR. This TV does reasonably well on the latter in comparison to other released TVs but it's local dimming system is rather poor.

Is this a 2017 model ?

Yeah, LG's 2017 models have a J in the name. Last year's version was the UH850.

True, but then a TV with good local dimming (full array backlight) is going to be in the higher price bracket anyways, so it will probably be 10bit.

It's a 10 bit panel but RGBW - fine for OLED, big no for LED!

Just when I think I understand terms like 10 bit etc then I discover something else that shows I don't 🙄🙄

I stand corrected. Still, IPS....

This is the TV I have had my eye on for a while now. Unfortunately I can't pull the trigger until near Xmas so hopefully a better price drop by then.

Called RS Leeds and asked for this TV. They don't have this TV till end of Nov. Also not available to buy online.

I've just seen this tv on eBay,Argos shop for £799,very tempted but the wife will kill me.

Yeah, they will match £799, thats all... Didn't see that code posted oficially anywhere

Confirmed by LG that this is 8bit+frc, whether it matters is another thing but just for spec correction.

Funny that . I also spoke to LG and they confirmed this model has a 10 Bit panel . Not the 8bit +frc .. the lower 8 series have the 8bit + frc

I asked via email if this model specifically was 10bit or 8+FRC, got the below reply... doesn't bother me either way but I wouldn't be confident this was 10bit.

As long as it does what I want it to do , not that bothered. Always had LG's and never a problem . So many "reviews" good and bad about every brand . Hell , this price , I won't be complaining

Not in stock on argos website but they have it on argos eBay store. Richer sounds have it listed for £849 now but can’t seem to work out what stores have stock.

I finally got mine from Crompton and Moore Harrogate for 899 to find it's been reduced to 799 in Argos

Bought this 2 months ago for £999. It's a great TV, especially at a discount!
