Watch everything from old classics to the latest blockbusters come to life with the LG 55SM8200PLA 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV with Google Assistant.

Featuring an IPS 4K NanoCell display, every pixel is placed consistently one nanometre apart. What does this mean for your viewing? You'll get uniform colour volume, perfect crisp detail and better picture quality from wherever you're sat in the room - no longer will you have to fight for the seat directly in front of the screen to get the best view.

With HDR you get improved contrast and colours, giving everything more depth. And thanks to Ultra Luminance technology, it's not just colours that will look brighter. Enjoy brilliant whites and pitch blacks, and appreciate all the details you were missing before.

Bring convenience to your living room with ThinQ AI - LG's voice command platform that works in sync with your other ThinQ smart devices, even those from other manufacturers. Ask your TV to play a film on Netflix, switch on the news, or turn up the volume, and that's all you need to do.

And with Google Assistant built-in you can do even more. Find out what's in your calendar, how long your commute will take, check the weather, control your smart home devices, and much more - it's like having your very own personal assistant.

Audio that can live up to your content

With picture this great, you dont want audio that holds it back. With Ultra Surround technology, the SM8200creates seven virtual channels to produce a surround sound effect that will uplift your shows and absorb you in your console gameplay. It's great if you just want to stream some music while you're getting chores done too.

Navigate a world of online content

You'll never again complain there's nothing on TV tonight. LG's webOS is packed with apps to keep the whole family happy. Catch that must-see drama series from ITV, settle down for a Netflix marathon in 4K, or rent a movie from the Sky Store, all in one convenient place.

And with Freeview Play you can access content straight from your TV guide. Simply scroll back up to seven days and see what show's you've missed - no more regret if you forgot to hit record on the rest of the movie before you headed out.

This seems to be a downgrade on last year's SK8100 and 8000. No Dolby Vision, No Alpha 7 processor, no Dolby Atmos and doesn't even have the bonus of having HDMI 2.1 like other 2019 models.

How does this compare to 8500??
I would give the 2019 TVs a miss and wait till next year where HDMI 2.1 should be standard. The next console generation should take advantage of the extra bandwidth and hopefully deliver 4K at over 60fps.
The SK9500 has been available recently for around £740 and posted on this site.

Better specced set and includes DV and, I think, higher nits for HDR.

Worth a search on here to find a link.

The SK9500 is definitely a much better buy. Much higher brightness panel with FALD backlighting. Also has better speakers and build quality. Below is a comparison with the higher SM8600.
