Similar TV to the one on sale in Curry's but with 3D (passive) and a 5 year Euronics warranty for an extra £100 so seems like a good deal to me. Not many TV's with this spec for under £100

Only downside is there is literally no reviews for this model on the web.

Would anyone who bought this or the 820V from Curry's like to comment?

Same spec as the 850 models but uses the older LG OS not the new WebOS that the 850 has.

Do you know if its the same panel? as the 850 got some bad reviews. The 850 is also priced at over £1000 in all shops except a graded one in discount AV.

The panel is just fine, the problem has been with with the firmware on the 850 which has improved considerably over the past few months.

I bought the 820 from Curry's. What would you like to know? I was planning to get the Sony 8505 but the LG was better for me as don't watch 3D. This above is a good deal if you like 3D

Do they do this in a 65 does anyone know?

This spec is incredible for the money - considering looking at selling prices on eBay, I can still get good money for my old set.

But could really do with 65... As long as it doesnt double the price.

Only 3 HDMI ports on the 830 model - 4 on the 850 - not a deal breaker I know but I already have to use a splitter on my 4 HDMI port TV already ...

And how much better is WebOS compared to the old OS - heard that it can be very slow ...

reading a lot about 4k not catching on, the ps4 will not support it and the xbox one can but doesn't support so is it worth going down size for 4k?

Happy with the 820? ok with sports, PS4 etc? Does the upscaling have much effect?

That's a cracking deal, shame it's not passive 3D as I cannot get on with active 3D, and there's no mention of the length of warranty ...

WebOS is a bit slow to start up when you turn the TV on but I would say overall it was faster than the older OS in the LG I bought in 2012.

No WebOS isn't a big deal for me, will be using my PS4 to run any apps anyway. I guess most android smart TV devices would be as good as if not better than WebOS?

Not convinced either console will handle 4K satisfactorily, although it's a bold statement to say that the PS4 won't but XB1 will -

Sony have already stated the PS4 can handle 4k playback but won't game in 4k. As for 4k not catching on then why does Netflix and Amazon Prime now offer 4k content, why are Sky working on how to deliver it too as well as the BBC doing trails in filming and broadcasting?

4k IS happening my friend.

Yeah I'm happy with it. I mainly use mine with ps4 prob more than sky etc. Not watched any sports with it yet but must say the colour & detail is a lot better. I used AVForums to get a set up for it and it's working really well with HD through Sky at the moment.

5 year Euronics warranty??? No guarantee Euronics is gonna be around for another 5 months! they've been in trouble since they started

Where was that from? I live in Devon so might well be interested :-)

I bought mine from Vaughans in Cardiff for £899 with 5 year guarantee.

I'm thrilled with it, I had reserved a currys 55ub820v at £799 but the fact this has 3d too AND more importantly the 5 year warranty made it a no brainer

I read the 55ub820v thread on AV forums and since buying it (yesterday) have updated the firmware (from 3 to 4) and used the picture settings someone kindly posted on the av forums thread and I'm in love with it

It has now tv, netflix (with UHD content and 3 d content) and amazon prime video along with the usual apps etc.

Any questions please feel free to ask

Just scan seems to be greyed out what version of firmware you running ?

Just ordered this. it's been on a few websites at this price over last few weeks and I held off buying to see what comes up in the sales. this looks like by far the best deal around for a 55 inch 4k 3d tv. Can't wait to see it when it arrives.

where does it say about 5 yr warranty included plz?

I had mine delivered yesterday and am really pleased with it. Picture is sharp on all resolutions, even sd looks better than my previous TV. The colours are fantastic and especially improved after firmware update. I had a quick go with my PS4 and that was very sharp too. Can't fault it in any way.

yeah sorry it is in this version in the previous one it wasn't Mine is now set to 16:9 but you may prefer one of the others. Lets not forget these settings were posted originally for the 55ub820V which has different firmware revisions, but I slapped them on my 830 and am happy I did.

Been using the above settings with the brightness and colour about 10% higher and I am very happy with the picture.

Happy with the whole package in fact very easy to use and set up, even the standard def via antenna is an excellent picture. Smart TV and Web browsing options are very easy to use and work well, Netflix 4k, nice Magic remote works well, you can also use your phone as a magic remote using LG TV Remote from your app store.

Just got to work out the USB recording, do you need to clear and format the HDD before it will work?

Original Poster

Btw I've found the just scan option greyed out on certain inputs like the attenna but can be changed via HDMI

we now have uhd content from amazon

via prime yup quality is pretty good looking at it now not perfect mind
