Seems like a decent set for the price.

I don't think the screen is an ips, also not made by lg, seems to be a third party screen

I believe you are correct. There is much confusion over this panel, as the LG site says it's IPS, but it doesn't quite make sense if it is.

I am wondering how it compares to the Hisense 55M7000 though.

I always go by what it says on the manufacturers website

i have this TV. it's an MVA panel made by innolux. it isn't 10 bit so not capable of showing full HDR. it does however have a very nice picture with very bright whites and inky blacks. it's a good deal for this money at this size, but if you want full HDR you'll need to go higher.

I really think these larger sets should have 4 HDMI inputs nowadays for the money. Surely it would cost pennies to add an extra connection ?

You could easily have a sky box and/or free view recorder, Chromecast and/or Amazon stick, Blu-ray player and one or two games consoles to plug in.

3 HDMI just isn't enough these days, and not everyone wants to then get a full-on home theatre box to manage the sources.

I've ordered the 50" version from JL for 479. Anyone know how it compares to the samsung 50" 6000 that jl have discounted to 499? Querying whether I've bought I good purchase or not?

Sold out now.

Well in this case they certainly appear to be wrong. I saw on another forum someone confirmed it by the product code on the box... that indicates the panel manufacturer and as Rosko says, it is Innolux as I recall, same as Panasonic use. Definitely not IPS.
