At Currys in Birmingham I found this giant 60 inch TV.
It may not be the smartest TV, but at this diagonal and this price, just a well reasoned debate with my accounting wife made me not take it home!

Model: 60PB660V

I do not know if it is a national offer.

LG is a good make ,not sure Plasma is the best option these days -but at £10 per inch certainly a bargain

Just out of curiosity, what was her reasoning for not buying this set?

Heat added but no doubt there should be some decent offers come boxing day/ New Year.

Don't forget the good old O2 priority moments voucher!! :-)

isnt this the same tv that was on yhe black friday sale? if so, clearly its not a bargin

Which branch in Birmingham did you see it in?

I have a 50" LG plasma and picture quality is great,
Screen is very bright, and looks great in SD or HD

I think you should go back and get it. Plasma is more superior to LED.

plasma is dead, colours burn out to fast, if you think plasma is better than LED you need your head looked at! i think you might be thinking of LCD which is crap. i have a 47" lg smart 3d LED and its the best tv i have ever had i want to upgrade to a 55" but if im going to make the jump its got to be a 4k LED for me or a OLED if i can afford it :-)

o and ps this tv and offer is nation wide as its all over the tv!

led and LCD use the same displays...

Thanks for posting. Heat added.

But surely LCD and LED are the same screen technology? Are they not?

LED - Great if you want blacks to look grey. There isn't an LED out there that is close to a Pioneer Kuro - a technology 5 years old.

Essentially yes - They're both backlit, though backlit in a different manner.

Plonker. Don't know what your talking about. My 8000 series Samsung Plasma is a fantastic set with beautiful colour and no blurring.

I think this bloke's been on a Curry's sales training course!

You forgot to mention that the plasma will need re-gassing after a couple of years (but if you buy an extended warranty you'll be covered for that!)

Clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.

LED is LCD.

I've got a panny plasma in the bedroom for about 5 years and a 50"3d plasma in the sitting room and colours are fantastic and no blurring. If u want amazing HFR quality I tend to go to the pictures but believe it or not no matter what you watch UK tv is still pants and neighbours will still look the same in any tv lol

What utter garbage! I've had my 42" Panny plasma for 8 (YES, EIGHT!) years (I was a relatively early adopter) ... and am still hugely impressed with the picture (even though it's not full HD, it's only 1024x768 or something like that).
The point is that blacks are black and motion is smooth and colours are vibrant with great brightness levels. More importantly, visitors who have purchased LCD and LED TVs frequently comment on the superior picture quality of the Panny plasma.
Such a shame plasma is power hungry in comparison so my next upgrade to a 65" will have to be LED or OLED if affordable.
However, with most of our programming still in HD, I don't see any real need to upgrade until my Panny burns out ... so it looks like I may be stuck with it for some time to come if past performance is anything to go by!

To stop yet another argument

LED LCD vs. plasma vs. LCD

PS. I also have had a Panny for 8 years ,Its great (Which TV of the year) but I keep hoping it breaks so I can justify a new one , not helped by a visit to my old chap and his new Samsung Ue48h6400 (Product of the year 2014) amazing bit of kit.........:)

Just my advice when buying a TV ,forget all the figures and just find one that Which, What HiFi, Cnet etc reckon has the best picture, mines not full HD but all the reviews reckoned it had the best picture for HD and SD, tried to tell a mate that but he went ahead and bought a better one (Full HD) , the picture was stunning in HD but awful on SD channels and we still have a fair few of those

Meant to say DITTO ^^^^^^^ but with a Philips 42" and its STILL going strong after 7 years......Get an new set of eyeballs instead of a LED ,LCD which is basically the same anyhow......some people just don't have a clue.

Apparently this is a bargin(sic) as none of our time machines are working. Plasma is less efficient than LED /LCD though until OLED becomes more affordable I'll carry on watching my 10 year old Hitachi. I must find out when it is due to be regassed, haven't done it yet.

+1

I'm in exactly the same situation with my Panasonic 42PX80 which I think is 7 years old, my Sony led upstairs is nowhere near as good.

My plasma wont be replaced until either it has a problem or oleds become affordable.

I need this!

one word "divorce" lol

I bought this TV 6 months ago when it was priced at £699 at Argos, clearance stock. Wife wasn't too happy as it's massive. We'd only had it a few days and watches a film on it and straight away we noticed one dead pixel! Might not sound a big deal on such a huge TV but once you've seen it you always look towards it! Fortunately I'd saved the packaging and Argos collected it. For me the screen was far too reflective anyway. The curtains needed to be drawn all the time to get the best picture. Instead I decided to go for the 55" 3d LG Smart TV and blu ray player package from Costco which was £799 at the time, one of my best purchases, brilliant!

This is the same deal from the Black Friday sale... And there is a reason it's this 'cheap'.

Ewwwwww plasma

i really dont like the way plasma screens are very reflective, so yo can see yourself or other things on the tv

This TV is a good deal for screen inches, and I was originally considering it until I viewed it and realised that this particular model does not present a great picture.

It appears in the shop to have a very dull picture, and WhatHi Fi describe it best as very washed out... whathifi.com/lg/…iew

Be warned that you might be disappointed if you don't go to the shop to view it first as you might have to stare at it for years to come.
