OP you might want to make it clear this display is only 5.8mm thick. It's so light and thin, it mounts to the wall with magnets and pretty much sits flush to the wall.

That is the main USP of the set.

In terms of PQ I believe it is the same as the C8, which you can get for half the price (£1699 with price match at JL). And you could get a separate Dolby Atmos setup for a lot less then the £1600 difference. Having said all that, if specs were more settled I'd be sorely tempted to pay the extra for this. At these sizes, the significant reduction in volume and protrusion from the wall makes a big difference Aesthetically.

In a couple of years I suspect this design will become the norm and I look forward to grabbing one

If only I didn't have to pay the mortgage for the rest of the year.
If anyone happens to buy this, make sure you use the British airways executive club link as you’d get 40548 air miles - assuming you value that more than something such as TopCashback etc
That's actually a great deal. I was looking for a new TV too. I assume there are brackets to attach the soundbar to the wall too?
I've just moved so since i'm decorating anyway i can stick the cable in the wall.

I know i am paying for the look but it needs to look good to be in the main livingroom.
BTW, John Lewis would price match but we bought their last one

The guy in the shop demo 100 Hz refresh rate difference I think that's what made the price diff

£400 or so off a BA flight - not bad!

There is only a ribbon cable connecting the TV to the sound bar.

Yeh it is thin and easy to hide in the wall.

Many of us that already have wall mounted TV's will have the source cables (HDMI/etc) routed to the back of the TV. So those will need changing as well to the soundbar.

One option would be to mount the sound bar just under the TV. But you'd need to channel behind the TV to extend the source cables, as there'd be no room for them behind this set. Also you'd have to ensure the soundbar is mounted securely, as otherwise you could get some resonance noise at higher volumes.

Still a great set and worth the effort for the Aesthetic benefits if you're happy to invest £3k now. I've gone the 65FZ952 route (£1379) with the plan being to upgrade in a couple of years.

I think the price difference is as its their signature range. Essentially an upsell model in exchange for the very thin panel and the gubbins moved to the separate box.

100Hz refresh would just be a gimmick. No one should really be using frame interpolation but all their models have it, therefore they can all refresh the panel at 100/120hz. None of the 2018's have HDMI 2.1, so it's only via the Apps you'd be using 120fps and again all the 2018's are capable of this.

How is the sound bar btw? Can you add some rears to it?

I've got 90 days return for my Panny. If this came down significantly i'd be tempted.
Looks beautiful. State of art in terms of design, imo. Thanks for sharing.
Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and a pretty decent soundbar. State of the Art form factor and a great TV.

Must resist

Dobly Atoms lol.
Is the soundbar proprietary then ? Cause I am guessing the TV system is inside the soundbar ?

Rears available and bloke at the shop said they are wireless.

At the shop, even with the high ceiling, the surround worked really well.

Hubby has picked the TV up now so can tell after he has set it up

Interested to hear how good the sound is. Obviously not really going to be Atmos with up firing speakers positioned below the display. But if you can add the rears for a reasonable price and the overall sound is decent, could be a nice tidy setup.

Yes all the gubbins is inside it. On the W7 the atmos speakers were motorised and popped up out of the bar. I think the same is on the W8.

Might cave in and go for one of these
