Probably an amazing TV but that's a lot of money for watching the box 👀

Nice for those that can afford it though.
Big year this year for TVs as they’ll have hdmi 2.1, which is going to be used in both PS5 and XseriesX.

Not entirely correct Panasonic, Samsung and Sony TVs are still only supporting HDMI 2.0 with select 2.1 features. Only LG has full HDMI 2.1 support.
Does anybody know how long the Costco TVs stay on the website? Trying to save for a decent LG but can't get the money until the end of June. Is it every month they change to a new deal or just when the stocks go?
Wow.... that seems expensive!
Also dont rely on LG support/customer service if something goes wrong!

I've had an ongoing battle with LG since Xmas and Richersounds stepped in only to get the same! LG believe that dark patches on a screen (that look like screen burn) which are uniformity issues is normal!! Therefore will do nothing about it..... a lot of money for a screen with defects! Take your own risks on these. All inwoupd advise is use your 30 days to send back if you notice anything out of the norm, wish I did! Lesson learnt!

Bizarrely the 2019 LG OLED are full 2.1, the 2020 models have their data capped at 40Gbps instead of the 48Gbps that’s supposed to be supported by 2.1. Ok it makes little difference but it’s a bit of an stupid move on LG’s part forbes.com/sit…21/

Considering in 2016 an oled was £4200 thereabouts the price is falling nicely on oleds as will only fall, now let’s hope micro led panels appear and fall in price

Should have purchased from Costco! Their warranty on TVs is amazing! Gave me a full refund on mine when it went wrong 4 years down the line!

Thats fine then. Its only a 10bit panel! Can't do 12 but anyway!
yeah, it's still only 10-bit panel (as was last years), so doesn't impact other than the fact they tried to conceal it. In order to get to 12-bit, TVs need to have 10,000 nits according to the Dolby Vision standard anyway and that's not going to happen any time soon. Even 10-bit requires 4,000 nits to hit their ceiling, which with Oled is impossible right now.

There's still a long way to go before we get to 10 & 12 bit proper.

The other interesting thing to come out of this is to save more costs they don't decode DTS, which is more likely to affect people. Native apps will require external decoding via soundbar/AV reciever etc

Too much for a TV with very little extra over the 2019 version, in fact I believe they have the exact same panel. This is Pikachu with a new hat.

It's a good price for this size OLED. Especially compared the the previous model.

Really surprised in the LG issues. I had a defect with my first OLED and got it replaced. Was about 6mths old at the time. Sorry to hear it's been a pain. Richer Sounds angle should eventually pay off

Mr HDTVTest aka Mr Vincent Teoh said the C9 makes more sense for gaming so I think I’ll stick with the C9 and pocket that £1000
Edited by: "Amzoa" 31st May
Thanks for the deal. Richer sounds price matched and knock £20 off too. On its way to arrive tomorrow.

Reasons for me personally to buy this over the C9 (and trust me it was a tough one) is I have an LG C6 OLED at the minute and LG are rubbish at looking after the older TV's and crucial updates like the ATMOS passthrough on ARC never happened plus other bits n bobs that we all wanted in an update. So will a freesync happen on the C9? I didn't want to take that risk IMO. Plus it does have a few extra bits on this TV over the C9 and yes I have read alot on the differences in both TV's to warrant that extra dosh.

Any OLED looks fantastic so you can't go wrong with either but the updates thing swayed me.
No idea why this is cold? Surely its the cheapest out there with nearly £400 knocked off!! On a newly released TV. Yeah the C9 is cheaper and so it should be its now 'outdated' in a way just like any phone is every year.

Anyway each to there own.
How would this be delivered in the current climate? Would they just leave it outside the door or would they take it inside?

I've got the C9 myself but read that the Q90R on HDMI port 4 is full HDMI 2.1 since a firmware update earlier this year, and has been confirmed working with 120hz 4k HDR over at rtings. C9 supports it on all ports though, not that it should matter as full bandwidth is a niche case for years to come, although having 1 port might be handy for next gen consoles.

c9 also has a few bits over the c10 namely being a bit brighter, dts decoder plus full hdmi 2.1 bandwidth (not that this matters, but it might in the future if you are a pc gamer). If buying a new TV now, i personally would go for a c9 or wait later this year in 5 months time when prices have come down to under 1700 get a cx

I got mine today and it’s soooo impressive, the new features and picture quality on this thing compared to my C6 is amazing. Some good points in comparison but I’m not needing DTS decoding as I have the new LG SN11RG soundbar, which can do DTS X with my shield TV, all 4 HDMI sockets are 120FPS @ 4K which I didn’t realise prior to buying. As for nits each review is different on that between the C9 and CX. Either TV though you aren’t gonna go wrong. I just wanted all the new features. I’m a tech lover and can’t help myself.

I currently own a 55” C7 with a 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup. Planning on getting a 55” or 65” CX when the prices come down in the next few months as I want black frame insertion 120hz for gaming. If it wasn’t for this one feature though, I would have bought the 65” C9 when it was £1649.99.

It’s night and day with pic quality and nits wise. It just looks more natural over the C6 and Dolby Vision is 50% better. Not sure if it’s the IQ thing but it’s impressive. And I Hooked my gaming PC up to it today and the lag is really low. As in not far off my gaming monitor. Very impressed. Well worth an upgrade imo if you have the cash. Just gotta sell the C6 now!! And yeah the 3D on that thing was superb

Another reason I got this one over the C9. And I’m not really sure if the prices are gonna drop that low on the new 2020 TVs due to the Xbox and PS5 coming out. I can imagine the demand is going to be more than usual for these 2.1 120hz VRR etc. Especially that 48’’ version

Every year they drop to below £1700. This year won’t be any different especially now there’s a global recession and everything that’s happening in the world. Also the 48” oled probably won’t sell as many as the bigger the sizes as it’s a niche product. Most people prefer bigger unless they need it because they have a small room or need to be on a pc desk.

Doesn’t the C9 have hdmi 2.1, 120hz and vrr? Also you were alluding to the possibility of freesync being released as a software update, is that even possible? I thought it would need the hardware to support it similar to how g sync requires a module?

Besides, isn’t all this talk on g sync pretty useless when it comes to console gaming as both xbox and ps5 will be running AMD?

The C9 has 1 hdmi port capable so if you were to buy a PS5, an Xbox series X and have a PC (like I will be getting) you will either have to get a capable splitter or unplug and replug your cables to get the most out of the 2.1 Also freesync is possible yes on this TV and LG have said an update is coming to enable this. I have an Nvidia 2080Ti and this TV looks amazing at 4K 120Hz, I'm blown away and was well worth the purchase for me.

Apologies if i'm wrong then. I watched HDTVtest review of the CX and i'm sure he mentioned the C9 only has 1 port capable of 120hz @ 4K with 4:4:4? Either way I have my new CX and I am super happy with it and knowing its the latest TV keeps me happy even if I did pay a slight premium over the C9.
