I have been tracking the price on this TV for the last few weeks and noticed that John Lewis have now dropped the price from £1699 to £1499, lowest price I can find. I decided to take the plunge and placed my order.

I am not making any claims on picture quality etc as these can be very subjective so please do your own research. In my view on balance this is a good deal.

The price at Richer Sounds, Currys, Selfridges and Crampton & Moore is £1799.

P.S. John Lewis are including a LG sound bar for free with the TV

Can you get a 65" KS8000 for the same price?
is this HDR 8 or 10?
If you like your blacks deep then go for the Samsung KS8000. That'll be using some sort of VA Panel whereas the LG will probably be using one of their own IPS panels - excellent viewing angles but poor contrast ratio meaning grey/milky blacks, especially when viewed at an angle.

Each to their own I guess but as the first poster says they were put off by poor black levels when viewed in person. I've also noticed on a number of LG panels that they seem to be more prone to issues such as DSE (dirty screen effect) Banding and clouding.
Am pretty sure you'd struggle to get a ks8000 for the same price lowest I can see is £2179.

Wtf

this is not a full HDR! its hdr 8, not 10
There is no such thing as HDR 8. It's an 8 bit panel that displays 10 bit colour as is common with most HDR TV's this year pretty much apart from the UHD certified sets which have to have 10 bit panels.
Showing as £1899.00

was this a good deal before the price increase?

While LG TV's might not be to everyones liking for reasons others have mentioned as a pure price deal I thought it was good and hence the post. This is a 2016 model that can process High Dynamic range content encoded using either HDR10 or Dolby Vision, all other brands only support HDR10. The lowest price now is £1799, for me personally the saving was worth it as it was on my shortlist.
