Looks a good system for the price. Does anybody have this system? Please share your views.
Thanks.

what annoys me most about audio visual electrical item is that they seldom show a picture of the inputs/outputs which is probably one of the most important things anyway.........

This will be really good if your TV has full optical pass-through so that the unit can decode whatever is going into it (PS3/XBOX etc), but otherwise I'd go for a system with at least 1 HDMI input (preferably 2)

This player also has a FM tuner build in also . . . Radio

I don't have one, but my old folks do!

It's pretty decent, quite powerful too. They have an LG Television too and Im pretty sure that they can set it to switch on with the television and they use an optical cable for the sound.

The speakers are not the smallest available, but for this money it is an absolute bargain in my opinion

Any one confirm whether the speakers are hard wired? Have existing wire under teh floor so want a system that has speaker connections

From the manual: 'This player supports USB flash drive/external HDD formatted in FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS when accessing files (music, photo, movie).'

good for larger than 2gb MKV files on NTFS formatted USB media - have a similar Phillips set up and it only supports FAT32 which annoys me

Pardon my ignorance - does that mean it would be suitable for a PS3?

How would you connect an iPod to this?

Yes optical out from ps3 to optical in (although check the back of your ps3 just incase models vary!)

Also I have a cheapo optical switch from ebay £4 or so, switch between optical inputs from xbox, ps3, etc so its direct into the unit rather than through the tv.... As noted above my tv does not do pass-through 5.1 and sends out stereo instead. You could get an automatic switcher for £25 but am sure you can just get up and switch it yourself.....

Will this work on sky box, Apple TV etc.
Probably a stupid question but I'd rather know before I buy it lol

Using one of these to connect to the red and white connections on the back.

Many thanks for the info - I would only be using it for the PS3 - XBox is for Kinect only and don't feel the need to have Sky HD connected either. Cheers.

I have Lg tv plus lg surround, connect tv to surround via optical and ps3, Xbox, sky etc will play though it in 5.1, as long as everything is connected via hdmi to tv obviously so only one optical needed and with the simplink feature everything works from one remote even the sky remote works it!

Top find great price

HEAT ADDED!

can we control the bass and treble individually? Is there any setup for it...

Great spot - many thanks.

I've just ordered it - it will be ideal for my lounge as my other half doesn't want loads of bulky AV equipment in there, so this won't be too intrusive. Optical in will be really handy - my cheap TV sounds awful through it's own speakers, but thankfully it has optical out, so this should be a massive improvement!

sorry , i am not too good with this stuff, can i connect this to my sky box direct, i dont have an xbox/ps3 etc, and get decent sound through an optical cable?

Yep you can connect directly from sky box

Just a quick note . .Although they display Google checkout they don't use it also with other check out systems listed on the website only credit or debit cards even then i had trouble using Master Card so had to use my Debit Card

i can confirm the speakers have connectors and are not hardwired.

i have had this system for awhile now and think its a great system i was suprised just how loud this thing is, for this price it is a absolute bargain.

if you press sound effect it goes through different modes and then to a custom equalizer where u can change everything for your preference.

I have a slightly older version of this and has been excellent. I'd imagine this one has cinavia protection for blu rays though so will keep what I have now

Anyone know if Richer sounds will pricematch?? Too late to ring them now!

Yes they will I always shop at richer sounds, as long as its in stock and the site is genuine

Just got this and can't wait to set it up. I have a LG 3D tv to go with it. My question is, how would I connect my sky box to this system? I presume the HDMI cable connects from the blu ray player to the back of the tv and my tv is connected to the sky box also through a HDMI cable so as the sky box cannot connect directly to the blu ray player. So will this be enough to hear the surround sound from the sky box or do I need to do something else? This sounds very confusing ha
