Might be useful for some.
If like me you play movies via a USB then this appears to be a good bit of kit for the money being paid.

HDMI delivers better audio quality in more formats than optical does, so … HDMI delivers better audio quality in more formats than optical does, so it is of no importance at all

This has no HDMI, otherwise I would not have made the statement.

I also don't see how the audio quality can be better as both would deliver the same digital signal.

Or are you confusing it with the ability for HDMi to pass Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio?

I know some folk get hung up on things needing an optical connection, when the tech was made obsolete when HDMI arrived

It's a fair point.

Where optical can still be of use is with these Android boxes where HDMI bitstream might not be available.

Sounds like a lot of experts on speakers here, so please allow me to ask this question that I can't get answer so far.
I'm having CORSAIR SPEAKERS SP2500 2.1 for my PC, which is a very good speaker.
However, I wanted to enjoy 5.1 speakers for my gaming experience.
Would I be able to use some of the speakers from this deal for my PC?
my soundcard has separated plug for bass and additional speakers. I wonder whether I can just connect them there?
If not, what could I do to make it 5.1 or even 7.1?

Thanks in advance

That's irrelevant, if it's true this doesn't have optical or HDMI inputs

If this was 2002 it would be a pretty decent deal.

This has a composite only connection, which might mean you can't even connect it to your TV.
This is an Eastern European/Middle East market product (ie old technology)
Its very cheap and will sound that way.

Its £49 for a reason, you will be disappointed.

Not bothering with it myself, the RRP was only £79 in the first place...

Home cinema with no decent outputs

I bought this home cinema system but was amazed it only had one video output phono no hdmi and input for auxiliary was only stereo no surround sound so if I want to stream anything from my PC I have to put it on usb stick and connect that to this system. All in all nice system with shocking in/outputs

LOL no thanks then
This is my kind of price range but seriously finding it difficult to find a decent set up for that amount of money.

Any recommendations?
same model..different speakers ..and hdmi???

does this even have spdif out for the dolby digital ?

It doesn't need it as it's the source device (DVD player). It won't work for other devices like you think.

Well, this is just a low-end product. There are lots of modern and expensive stuff in Eastern Europe from german shops like MediaMarkt or Saturn.
argos will match the price instore????
Anyone for Dolby pro logic?
I bought one to hook it up with tv despite people saying they couldn't make it work other than built in DVD player.
I can confirm I does work but I can't confirm if it's surround sound or just normal passed through as speakers aren't set up in their intended places yet.
All you need is a 3.5mm jack cable (to connect to TV) and the other end rca red and white (to connect to DVD player).
Then using remote control top left (function) button scroll through until you see aux on DVD player display and that's it you should now hear sound from your new speakers.
Hope it helps someone.
I spent hours working it out.
