nice, direct drive is quiet and lighter. prefer higher spin speed myself though.

I can't help you on this on as I still have the first hot point I brought 14 years ago, it has hot and cold water feed. I was advised to keep it as long as I can as they are no longer made as good so after £15 for new bushes and £25 for a new motor we are still going strong!

can recommend LG washer based on the one we have owned for 8 years and fingers crossed not a spot of bother ,used every other day 1400 rpm

only down side is low spin speed

I have an LG and love it . Had for 2 years used about 9 times a week.

Have a Samsung Ecobubble (12kg) use it almost every day, the 5 year warranty swung it for me.

I would avoid the hotpoint machine at all costs, they are owned by indeshit and are nothing like the old machines.

If that Siemens machine is an 8kg model with a 5 year warranty I'd buy it over the Samsung any day.

Otherwise this LG is quite competitive at the price, just decide if the extra warranty from the other brands is going to influence your purchase.

I have the same model but in silver it's a good machine and has a quiet clean so you can clean your clothes at night and it has a tub clean function which keeps it free from **** n stuff.

top machine

Looks like a washing machine.

Can't complain bought one 3 years ago and it's excellent. The build quality is superb and quiet spin.Wouldnt hesitate to buy another. Also look modern.

we have LG , been working flawlessly for 7 years , with 4 kids you can imagine it's on every other day a week
I got extended warranty but that's finished a couple of years ago

Even cheaper (£278.97) if you trial Which? Remember to cancel though...

We have an LG washing machine. Used everyday (twice sometimes) for over 8 years. Wouldn't even consider anything else now.

+ £19.95 delivery remember

we have had this model for 2 years and has at least 10+ washes per week. paid nearly £400 at the time. very happy

Direct Drive can be expensive to repair and offers little benefit, except for noise reduction.

Personally, I'd be looking at the Siemens, followed by the Samsung.

Higher spin speed is mainly a marketing tool.

The effect of spin speed on drying is over exaggerated and higher spin speed machines wear out more quickly.

Drum design and spin time have a larger effect on the machines drying ability.

Ignoring running costs, assume that each machine breaks down the day following the warranty expiry and you have to replace it. The machines will therefore cost you per week:

LG: £2.87
Samsung: £1.49
Siemens: £1.38
Hotpoint: £3.26

Lower is obviously better, from a guaranteed value point of view.

Therefore the Siemens offers best value, closely followed by the Samsung. The LG will cost you twice as much, the Hotpoint trails in last, for guaranteed value.

Obviously, the machines could/will outlast their warranty period, possibly by a long margin, but the above represents what you are guaranteed to get out of your machine.

The only negative I've read about LG machines is that they do not like non solid floors ie. floorboards as it can cause the spin cycle to become unstable with heavier loads. I had this problem with a recent Panasonic purchase so had a full refund and went back to Bosch (having had an almost trouble free 14 year service from my previous model)....all is fine with the Bosch.

Actual Delivered price is £318.93 so cheaper from BHS as per other post

i have a very similar lg 1200 spin model. very pleased with it. have had it nearly a year and my mums had it a few years with no problems. direct drive motor comes with ten year warranty too

We have the LG Direct Drive with steam and 1400 spin. It has at least one load a day and is still going strong after 4 years. I almost never use the steam function, so if I were buying a new one I'd go for the same model you are looking at.

Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it. Looks like LG.

Thank you everyone also. I have been reading all of your comments and think that I will go for the LG too x

We are not getting another lg ours lasted 4 years. Leaks in multiple places, although it is quiet. We use 15 or more times a week.

The same site offer some hotpoint machines at £279.95 after a £220 cashback offer. How does this work?? Is it worth it??

Ha, hotpoint deal not on site now and my e message never got there and they can't find the deal. Not good!!
