TheHun is this a better model than the other LG we were discussing today ?
Very good deal if it’s the latest model.

Is the WiFi / wireless android only or Apple good to ?

I noticed all the smart machines are only android / NFC

Hi BigStart.

Yes those other models are NFC and limited to diagnostic checking, tub clean countdown and downloading additional programs only.

WiFi extends to iOS as well as Android and as well as the above functionality, WiFi also enables you to remotely activate and monitor the wash too.

The old models have an outer glazing of tinted plastic, which scratches very easily. Looking at the description of the latest model range, it says tempered glass, so I assume this extends to the outer glazing?

Looking at the display interface, one criticism of the touch screen controls was that they were difficult to see in low lighting conditions. With these controls having a light grey background, it's easier to see.

Finally when reading up on AI DD, this is a brand new feature, that detects the fabric and optimises the amount if detergent and fabric softener accordingly. In theory this should result in LG's best ever cleaning performance.

This is a breakthrough price for a model that was only released a couple of months ago and as it also qualifies for 5 year warranty, it's a no brainer when looking at all the other 9KG deals.

If 10KG is a priority, then you forego the AI benefit and the WiFi, but everything else is cosmetic.

Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot OP (for making me spend)

According to the LG product page it works with Alexa and Google Assistant.

Well you're far more likely to have to make a formal escalated complaint due to Currys customer service issues than Hughes.

I'm currently on my 3rd LG washer, which I purchased 2 years ago. The previous 2 lasted 9 years of daily use.

I've dealt with Currys quite a few times it's not as bad as everyone makes out and you tend to get what you want eventually. Anyway it works out cheapest that way for me and bar the delivery I won't have to deal with Currys given the warranty is through LG themselves.

Call them they can do it over the phone. I can't believe they didn't even Google the company to find out who they were. Whilst you are at it tell them how disappointed you were to be told they couldn't price match in store, you never know you may get a goodwill gesture out of them

Unbelievable. Hughes are long established, fairly sizeable and offer better customer service than Currys and Argos.

Defo ask about a goodwill gesture. Being on an electrical department I can't see how he wouldn't have heard of them.

OP is correct about Hughes, unless you are getting extra discount from Currys then Hughes is your best bet

Sounds to me like the discount is so big, they are trying to wriggle out of honouring it.
When offer available for?

ThAnkyou wil give them a ring tomorrow.
John Lewis sells this model for £549 but includes installation and recycling as standard.

With the John Lewis "Never Knowingly Undersold" price guarantee, and Hughes having physical stores based in over 40 UK locations, it would be good to get that price discount and those extras thrown it, wouldn't it?
Does this come in silver?
This model is only available in white.
I just don't get it! How can these machines be AAA rated when it takes 4 hours to do half a load and 5 hours to do a full load? 60 degree water for hours on end? Is it because it takes so long you end up buying new clothes instead of doing washing so the annual consumption is reduced?

Sorry, I'm not trying to catch you out, but you say you had 2 LG washers that lasted 9 years, meaning you bought your first LG washer in 1999? I didn't know LG were making washers back then.
LG have been making washing machines since 1969.

They have, but they didn't arrive in the UK until 1999. You could only initially get them from the Euronics independents and at the time a 7KG load capacity was unheard off. Priced at £399 it gave the likes of Bosch, Siemens and AEG a real run for their money.
Are you sure this is eligible for the 5y warranty? Seems not to be on the relevant pages, even though that is linked on the Hughes page.

Yes there is a link in one of the other trheads, let me find it and i will post it

Yes they were. That was the year they arrived in the UK and you could only buy them via independent dealers. (Euronics) We bought because we were sold on the trusted sales patter, the looks and specification and the aggressive pricing. We haven't looked back since. They had no reputation in the UK at the time, but in the Asia Pacific region they had already established an excellent reputation. (Well that's what the salesman told me anyway)

Very well done. I don't wish to put a spanner in the works, but unbeknown to me, eBay sent me a 20% code this morning. Hughes can now supply this model for £324.00 via their eBay portal, so if this is better than the Currys deal, it's not too late to cancel and reorder, but otherwise if the difference is small, leave as is.

Yes and it's gone back up to £499 on the Hughes main website, but £399 on their eBay Portal. And presumably John Lewis are still offering free recycling and installation on this item?

Oh really but I’m a bit wary of ordering things from ebay ... I will check it out. £324 is a good price. Currys price matched £379

But you're still buying from Hughes, so delivery and service etc. Should be the same. Just check 5 year warranty still applies via that portal because it's not made very clear.
