(Open box available at £344.98) £5 Quidco covers the delivery charge - starting to see this phone doing an LG and dropping substantially. Would personally go for the open box as will be as new with all accessories for £30 less.

Always-on Display for Enhanced Convenience

The 5.3-inch Quad HD IPS Quantum display on the LG G5 offers an Always-on feature, the first on a main smartphone display. Save your thumbs. No more hitting the button to check the time, date, or notifications. With the LG G5, the important stuff is already up and on! Just look.

LG's First Modular Type Smartphone

LG's innovative Modular Type design gives the LG G5 the ability to transform into a digital camera, Hi-Fi player and more all while keeping its traditional removable battery in a full metal uni-body design for the first time ever.

Extreme Wide Angle Lens and Advanced UX

Reflecting LG's longstanding reputation as a leader in smartphone cameras, the LG G5 has two cameras on the rear: one with a standard 78-degree lens and another with a 135-degree wide angle lens, the widest available in any smartphone. The 135-degree lens on the LG G5 offers a viewing angle that is approximately 1.7 times wider than those of existing smartphone cameras and 15 degrees wider than the human eye's field of view. The wide angle lens makes it easier for users to capture more landscape, taller buildings or larger groups without having to position oneself further from the subject.

Can you get root on this? or is the bootloader locked up like so many recent LG phones
I bought one from Amazon Warehouse for £334 yesterday and cancelled it an hour later. I have 3 LG TVs and with terrible support for them and the reports on this and the G4 I am just not willing to buy LG anymore.
LG stuff is garbage hence the quick price drop on this phone.
I'd avoid LG at all costs. I have recently had to send of my G4 to repair the well known boot loop problem, and to repair the camera which is faulty. Had it sent back to me after 2 weeks, and yes the boot loop was fixed with a mainboard replacement, but they never bothered to look into the camera fault, and was sent back still faulty. even though on the letter it said it was fully tested by them. Now they want me to take pictures of the faulty camera and email it to them, and then have to send it off and wait another 2 weeks.
Think you can unlock the bootloader through official channels, though it still voids the warranty.

This is a really good phone. Not sure why all the hate - it's substantially cheaper than Samsung's flagships but has a few features some may prefer - such as the option of changing the battery once it deteriorates, or getting an attachment with a huge battery.

The wide angle camera is really good for holidays, standard camera is excellent and the phone as a whole is lightning fast - snappier even than the S7. It has a better loudspeaker too. Not saying it's a better phone but in terms of which phone I personally like best..well it's not all that clear-cut - I've switched between the two a couple of times.

Not knocking you at all but I've seen exactly the same stories about devices from every manufacturer - sometimes you get unlucky.

Most phones - Sonys, Samsungs, LGs etc - get sent to authorised repair centres, which can sometimes be the same place even for different manufacturers. Where yours goes depends on your region. You could have had just the same issue with a different manufacturer.
This or oneplus 3 for £60 less?
I will agree regarding support I have Lgg2 but since day one no software update, fair enough it was on Vodafone but still lg have a responsibility to make sure they provide updates.

I have the LG g2 from Vodafone also. You have to connect to a pc and then you are able to install MM through LG's pc suite. Only way it can be done I think as the update wasn't pushed OTA

Got the OnePlus 3 on release day and absolutely love it. A brilliant phone with excellent specs. For what you pay, it really is a great product. Looks and feels great too. Highly recommend it! I've had the OnePlus One, Two and X, and I have to say the 3 is the best phone without a doubt.
This phone will probably be around £300 soon enough!... The price drops for LG are ridiculous

While I generally agree with what you say, there's two downsides: a non-replacable battery compared to the G5, and the - still more average than "flagship" - camera. The G5 camera is simply far superior. If that's not of primary concern for you, and you can live without replacable batteries, the Oneplus 3 is a very good option for less money.

Your points are 100% valid. It is a bit of a toss-up of what you need.. i.e. do you need 2 sims? etc...
Each phone has its pros n cons.. just need to weigh up what is more important to you

G2 is a brilliant phone with great battery life. Wasn't a big fan of Lollypop and reverted to KK. Is Marshmallow much different? Couldn' find any info on xda. Thanks.

did they replace yours or repaired it?

This is the downside to buying from companies like that - it's not European stock, hence why it's cheap - and LG simply won't honour the warranty on a phone that was imported from outside of its warranty area. People are warned about this often enough on HUKD but they still buy from Eglobal, Simply Electronics to save a few quid.

Yes you can still update it via a PC. Not many people know this. I only found it out when I tried my luck a few weeks ago. Took over an hour though.

Terrible upgrade to be honest for the G2. I put mine on 5.0.2 and my battery life became terrible, had to revert back.

Was going to buy this on release. I'm a big fan of LG, I have a G2 and a TV from them. But this phone just has too many problems.
I'll be getting the OnePlus 3, though the display is meant to be pretty poor on it, every other aspect seems solid.
How many phones do you need ?
Like others I just wouldn't risk a LG at the minute, I went through two g4's with boot loop issues. The first after seven days and the second after a day and a half. This was only a couple of months ago when LG had claimed that phones manufactured after January 2016 were okay. That and the reports of things like poor quality control and chipping paint on the G5, ensure I just don't want to waste my money until they get the design/quality under control again. Shame really as its one of the few flagship devices that have removable batteries, and given I keep my phones an exceptionally long time (currently got a galaxy s2 that's five years old) it's a deal breaker.

Yes same here. Was bad for a few days but not sure if it was because I restarted the phone or that I deleted Facebook & Messenger but it seem to have fixed it. Might just fixed itself, who knows. Back to getting a day & half till two days.

I've got a nexus 6p. Looking to upgrade to this year's best. At the moment, best option seems to be wait a month or two for the note 6/7.
I've got the LG G4 and it is a fantastic phone that takes great pictures.
I have however had two problems:-
1. The battery totally sucks, especially if your playing game. I frequently lose 1% per minute pretty much.
2. After having the phone for 1 year and on the first day of my 1 week holiday abroad I got the loop boot problem. Totally sucked. I did get a good response from LG and they collected the phone today for repair.
Thinking I might go for the S7 and be done with it. Feel like it could die again at any point when I get it back. Shame really. I have everything LG :'(

Again though, for every person with a faulty G4 there's another person with a faulty S6 - e.g. Last year my S6 home button stopped working, I had about three G4s over the course of the year and they were all perfect. I'm generally quite lucky with phones though.

I don't think you're any more likely to get a faulty phone if you buy an LG, personally, so really it should be about which hardware suits you the most.

Debatable - when I went to Cornwall with my gold S7 I wished I still had the G5, as the wide angle camera is superb for group photos and shots of buildings. The S7 takes quicker bursts and has better audio in video recordings though.
Will never buy an LG phone again, bought a G4 at Xmas , broke in early may been back for repair, sent back still broken, it's back with them again...they sent me round in circles absolutely despicable, had to get a Vodafone manager to speak to them. Customer service/repairs has some serious problems.

I've got the boot loop problem and they will not fix it as the phone was bought in Australia. They want me to send it in a tracked package to Aus to fix it and send it back. Awful, clueless support. Great phone though.

Spot on. I read the horror stories about 'awful' build quality, overheating, terrible screen bleed, and the suggestion that the detachable chin completely mismatches the top part. Before I ordered I checked out all the display models locally and the only issue I saw was that the outline of the antenna near the camera was just about visible through the coating.

I ordered, still thinking I'd end up sending the G5 back, but it has turned out to be perfect, aesthetically, yes the join on the back where the phone meets the chin could maybe have been finished better, but its hardly a glaring mis-design!

I find it amazing that a Phone of this spec, can be sold for this price and still attract hate, Believe it or not, if you put the G5 and the GS7 in front of me now for the same price, I'd still choose the G5 on account of it NOT being made of glass, and (IMO) having a better speaker, but at this price its a no-brainer.
