So you have this phone?
Mr Freeze for me. Terrible phone apart from the excellent wide (real) angle camera.

Phone is ok but cameras are joke.
Camera is good with Gcam. Still no Oreo but decent deal if you want a good screen to body ratio
I have the g5 and worse phone ive ever owned, dont think will ever by lg again

Constantly over heats, runs in to slow down issues and hangs so have to restart about 3 times a day, kill the battery in about 5 hours and the glass covering the camera is so weak, cracked after about a month lots of complaints online, hopefully some improvements in this

Had a G3 and a G4 previously. Both great phones, and lasted years. Eventually boot-looped one g4 and jumped in a pool with the other. Had a mint condition G6 for £300 about 4 months ago. Lovely phone. Not much of a photographer, so cant speak to that. Best battery of any phone i've had for years. Could push it to 3 days if i keep it in my pocket and give it light general use. By lunchtime on the first day from charging, i'm at 96% battery. Not seen that for many years.

Also bought a ZTE Axon 7 new for myself, but swapped for the G6 with my wife, as she cares less about phones. Also a nice phone that punches well above it's weight for the price (£170).

Yes, thought it will be upgrade after G4 which died - at least camera will be the same. Couln't believe how better snaps were after recovering them from G4 finally...
I'm also still using a G4, got it on a HUKD tipoff when it dropped to £220 by mistake. That bootlooped in 2015, vodaphone replaced it, and in 2017 just before the 2 years was up the one they gave me bootlopped and LG fixed it again for free, which was really lucky hah. I do sometimes think about switching to a G6, but it's hard to switch when the G4 was bootloop aside, one of the best phones ever made.
Want this phone but my g4 cam is brilliant. Difficult decision

I am almost exactly the same here. Bought for £220 from Vodafone. Bootlooped just before 2-year warranty expired. Got it fixed for free.

Battery started to die quicker, so I replaced it with PowerBear one a while back, so everything works as new.

As a result, I am really struggling to justify the upgrade now:
- None of the new phones have removable battery
- Screen is already pretty big
- Camera is good enough
- Fast and stable enough for everything I do
- Has removable memory
- Doesn't have annoying screen edges of S8/S9

I would like some new camera features that the latest flagship phones have, but just cannot justify spending lots of money for something that will be an upgrade in some ways but a downgrade in many others
Great phone great camera

I upgraded from an LG g4 to the g6.

Most of what you have said is true. I did find the g6 nippier when I started using it, Google maps Etsy was significantly faster to load, zoom etc.

If you sit a great and a g6 next to each other you will be surprised to see that images on the g6 are slightly smaller than those.on the g4. The g6 screen is slightly narrower (90%) and the formatting of webpages is governed by the width so all webpages I looked at on both devices are slightly smaller on the g6. Not a big deal... But the reverse of the experience I've had over the last few years where each phone I got was better.

On my g4 I had to repair the camera lens and replace the USB charging port. Both fairly easy fixes which I wouldn't be able to do on a g6. In the end my G6 had to go back because the SIM card tray snapped leaving a piece of the plastic inside. A silly little fault which is common and wrote off the handset. It took me 2 weeks to get Vodafone to replace the handset as they wrongly claimed that damage to the SIM card tray is 'accidental damage' and not covered by the warranty. They did eventually swap the handset out for another (Huawei p10 - Vodafone have stopped selling LG devices).

I had the G2 for 4 years no problem, even passed it down to my daughter, I just upgraded to the G5 and I noticed the Sim tray was very flimsy on this too, I was nervous about loading it with the Sim and micro SD card in case it snapped, fortunately you only have to do this once in a long time.

Also a recipient of the G4 £220 Vodafone deal which is still good but the battery life is now pretty poor.

Ordered a 128gb quad Dac version of the G6 from Eglobal Ebay for £315 but from reading comments on here it doesn't sound that much of an upgrade.

What are people finding wrong with the camera? Loss of detail at distance?

Is the camera any good on this? I still have my g4!

The Camera is.... Not Pixel 2 XL, but not bad. It's more like a Mid Ranger Phone. It's not even nearly the best, but I have the G6 and it's acceptable in good lighting conditions. In low light, it struggles but about as much as any other phone under £500
I've had a G3, G4 (both of which had issues) and now on a G6. I find it to be a great phone.

I hadn't noticed any issues with the camera. General speed and battery life seen great (it lasts a day with frequent usage / browsing / music streaming)

I'm perhaps biased because I like LG software. The settings menus are well laid out and settings easy to find (my experience with Huawei is completely the opposite). The LG calendar app is much better than Google's own, and most of the paid for ones I've tried. That said it's obviously a subjective thing. I just don't want anyone to be put off by the negative comments - not everyone has a bad experience of this phone.

I also have this phone and I'm more than happy with all the functions.Photos and video blow up nicely to the size of my 65 inch 4k tv.Im not into slomo and all the gimmiks though.
My sister has this phone and I’ve had a play with it. Seems really nice for the price, don’t quite get why people are saying it’s a bad phone.
I've got an LG Nexus, but having experienced bootloop and the palaver with having that sorted out, I'm a bit wary about having another LG, but I do like the phone, and being a Google phone, I've got used to having the latest android updates as soon as they come out.
Just bought a new one off ebay for £290 so not sure if this is a 'great price' seems to be the standard rate for a new one these days

Great phone. Why is it terrible?
I love the wide angle lens. Couldn't have a phone without it now.
