Cameras also better on this, if it was European model it'd be a fantastic price for one of best flagships of 2019 - but only released in U.S. or elsewhere, not due to be supported here

G8s has better battery life though

That'll be because of the screen obviously, this has faster charging at 21w compared to 18 on the g8s, which is a bonus

Battery capacity also slightly bigger on S, I believe - every little helps

True, according to specsheet 3550 vs 3500mAh
Does it come with any extras?

Thought it was bit more, screen is bigger though lower-res, apparently battery life substantially better still (although you can bring down res in settings)

Anyway for those wishing to compare the two

I wasn't aware G8S has different cameras than G8? is that a fact? are they worse?

Who wants to wait 40 days for a phone, stuff changes to quick

Anyone here to boycott LG after the bootloop fiasco?

I have bootloops on G2 G3 G4 G5 and G6, I kept buying them though because I love the form factor and the IR Blaster /removable batteries too much, I was always a generation behind, if I was buying new yes I would of not bougtht one again.

all my loses were only £100 give or take
Great find and a great price for a good phone.

Many others suffered bootloops using the same SOC'S. some suffered more than others some were highlighted more than others.
The trick was not to buy any of the device with those SOC, I didn't.

Wait, so if you get one from 🇺🇸, it won't work here?

Battery figures are usually +/- 10% so they are identical in a use case.

I think it was one specific model and that was fixed anyway. Most were fixed under warranty. And the design/firmware was fixed within a year.
I had that phone and it was fixed under warranty.
However I do agree that it's a very serious defect.

Oh, I can live with that 😁 thanks.

There might be a way of changing CSC, just like with Samsungs, obviously here warranty not worth much, no problem voiding it

Our losses were about £600 out of pocket and no one to help. Vowed never to touch them again.

That said, the G4 was one of the best phones, period.
@MrSwitch would this be a relatively 'slender' phone? On the lookout for a new phone for the better half and she's coming from an iPhone so wants a 'slim' phone because she isn't keen on the size of the OP5 that I have. Any recommendations please?

Thickness you mean?

No, moreso width. The iPhone is alot narrower (on a par with the Galaxy S7). Could be a stupid request but I'd appreciate any input you have

What's your budget, I'd get her the Xperia 1 or 5 if she needs a narrow phone, those two are the narrowest you csn get, both around the £250 mark used on cex?

Been using Xperia 5 for last week, I like it

Smallest form factor 855 chip, one downer is fingerprint is meh, but it's okay, can look past it

Haha

Something like the S9, s10e or s10, all slimmer profiled phones, in fact most of the recently released handsets bar ones like the mate 20 x etc are slimmer than your OP5.
Is this model missing any particular bands that we use here in the UK?

It's was fixed when they moved to the SD820 made by Samsung, it didn't oveheat as if it was its no.1 objective.

I agree I went back a few times, was great slim bezels for years after, was rocking 8000mah battery for while was still rather thin!

Loved the leather backs also, awesome phone

Ouch ye I personally don't spend more then 300£ on a phone for that reason

Yeah me neither, it was £300 each both mine and the wife's bootlooped same week. Was unreal.
LG are ahead of the curve when it comes to removable batteries. All phones should have this.

The g6 onwards don't have it.. in fact the new ones are glued in!.
Check out the jerryrig video on it.

I have a g7 and mine was well and proper glued on with the glue strip.
To take the battery out is destructive nowadays regardless of how carefull you are.
I have all the fancy tools from ifixit (wife has decided to do frequent drop tests on all her phones for science!) and it's still difficult

Didn't realise. That's a backwards step.
Of course these phone manufacturers want people to throw away perfectly good phones just because the battery has died. Imagine chucking a TV out because the remote had packed in or replacing a car because the battery charge had gone.
